Interestingly, the journal mentioned in the article seems scientific and serious.

You don't get access to the full version, but some of the abstracts sound almost comprehensible.

Like a lot of areas it sounds cooler then it is.

Also, both jobs are taken. Certainly Xenobiology has about two positions worldwide (both in NASA) in total.

The last couple of articles about the Fermi paradox and Drake equation are encouraging. The Drake equation had another variable added, and several of the other variables refined. Both still point to a universe where sentience is rare, travelling faster then light is impossible, travelling near light is untenable.

That of course would be very boring. Give me a jump drive any day.
