Life Support

Where is the provision for life support in the ship design rules? The ships in the 2300AD book give a cost per month for life support but I dont see it in the Core Traveller Book of the 2300AD book.

Yes, its in the old classic 2300 rules but surely it was brought along.

Cost for LS per month.
MGT CRB p.137 rt col.

There is no allocation of tonnage for it in the CRB, but it's included in Staterooms (as with CT and T20 design systems).

I doubt that's been changed by Colin.

Hmm, a cost instead of a duration. Thats an odd switch. What if my spacecraft breaks down in a remote system and is adrift. How long will they have breathing air, water, food etc? Knowing how much a month worth of supplies cost doesnt really help. Are all ships equipped for one month only, to be replaced at that same interval?

I liked the old Classic 2300AD system better where you purchased man/days of life support.. so you could determine if your ship was equipped for short hauls or long expeditions. I may have to just borrow that from the old rules.

I found a blurb in the core rules stating that as long as vessel had power it could provide breathing air for 6 months. This doesnt accout for food or water though. I assume most players dont want to worry about such trivialities and just assume they have enough, period. 2300 is bit less advanced however and spaceflight isnt quite so mundane. I think the players having to be conserned about and plan for their trips is fitting.
