Looking for an old collection

Terquem

SOC-12
Many long years ago, around 1986, I fell on hard times (things got much better, thank you).

In order to have some extra cash, I sold my entire collection of Classic Traveller books. At the time I kept them in three boxes, The LBB, Snapshot, and Mayday.

I’ve always wondered if there were ever a way for me to track down my collection and recover it (though I know that this is mostly an absurd thought).

Then recently I joined this group, and I’ve been quietly watching, reading, and enjoying this place quite a bit, thank you.

So, if it doesn’t offend anyone, I’d like to just put this out there.

My collection of Little Books were all stamped with a personalized black ink stamp of a unique dragon on the inside cover of each book.

If anyone out there ever came across one of these books, say at the Balboa Game Company, (A.K.A. The Warhouse) in Long beach, California, or some other second hand gaming store, and you have one of these I would love to find out if I could buy them back.

It’s a very long shot, but I thought I’d try

(the truth is, selling the books at the time was painful, and made me very sad, but also gave me enough money to get going in the right direction, and for that I’ve never had any regrets).

Thanks, everyone
David

Until you get them back (OK, I am a serious optimist), have you acquired the Classic Traveller CD from FFE?

Bundle of Holding

I recently bought into the BundleofHolding offer (selected to contribute 24 dollars,) and picked up a whole host of PDF copies of some of the older books, and that was great.

I am thinking about just going ahead and getting the 35 dollar CD (what an amazing deal!) and to be clear

I have purchased the FFE Books volume, and Adventures volume, plus in my travels around the country I've picked up old copies of the books and have some of my favorites lying around on my desk most of the time.

So, it's not for lack of having the rules that I put this out there, it was more of a silly attempt to find those books that I once owned,

Thanks!

Yes I have considered that

This weekend I took advantage of the BundleofHolding offer, and picked up a lot of great pdf copies of some of my favorites, a great deal for my 24 dollars

But to be clear, I have purchased FFE's hard copies of the Books collection, and the Adventures Collection, as well as many of the small books from stores I have visited all across the country. I keep some of my favorites on my desk at work most of the time, so having the rules isn't really an issue.

I sort of just wondered if those old books of mine were still out there somewhere,

Thanks!

I did something similar. Broke up with my girlfriend and decided to sell everything I owned and flee overseas to 'find myself'. What a dick head I was. I sold my 5th Frontier War, Azhanti High Lightning and all the other Traveller games I had. Also complete set of FASA and Seeker modules. I have since got them all again but, like you, the books are not quite the same as the ones I had as a young chap. Funnily enough it was also about the time you sold yours.

Somehow I managed to post both my first and second draft replies up there, hmm I need to be more careful

Never was able to talk myself into buying AHL, wish I had. But that being said, I have decided that I will go ahead and get one of those 35 dollar CDs. It's about the best deal I've ever seen for classic game books in any system

A little update

I suppose I never will find those original books I once owned, and that's okay.

I really think the FFE CD with all the books is about hands down one of the best investments in gaming resources I've ever made. Having all the books available like that is something else.

On another related note. I will be travelling to Torrance, California for training in February, and will have an opportunity to visit "The War House," In Long beach for the first time in years and I am really looking forward to it, and will be hard pressed to resist dropping too much money there and struggling to get everything I buy on the plane for the trip home.

You never know what will turn up where. And this is the first time I'd read your original post in this thread, so even though I don't think I remember seeing that sort of icon, I'll go home and double-check my LBBs just in case.
