Rats!

[Throws away part generated engineer character]
He had 3 Soc which may have been interesting.

Now Pilot, gunner or admin....
</font>[/QUOTE]Well, if you reuse the stats, we could have an interesting character anyways...

Now if diocletian would just get back to me on it...

I will volunteer to take up the role of pilot. Just give me some time to generate a character but I would gladly take a pregen, as well.

Hehe - must stake claim *before* rolling character.
<Rustle of paper being crumpled>

Bagsy the other gunner, then. To tell the truth, I'm just gearhead enough to enjoy rolling the characters. So I'll roll a gunner up....

I suspect at least one BP will be used guaranteeing some gunnery and I think I'll wheel out the 3 Soc guy.

I generated Kafka a nicely decent pilot with a good mix of space skills (pilot, nav, sensor ops, mathematics, physics, commo, computer) and some other useful skills. I don't know if he'll go with it, but it might simplify things for him.

Looks like we have a full crew now. We can be getting started soon.

Submit your characters to me for review. After I approve you can place them on the game board.

Make sure you pull out your MT manuals, they will come in handy.

I hope to make this a fun one.

I will be making full use of the GDW Rebellion background. I will not be deviating from the published canon on the Rebellion, so the Rebellion Sourcebook, Challenge articles and TNS news flashes will be my guide for the background.

There will also be no house rules. I will be sticking to the published GDW MT rules.

One problem: I don't have a copy of the MT rules. I may be able to borrow someone's but I don't guarantee it. Does this affect things?

I can't seem to get my character loaded into the game board. It says: "This game is not accepting new characters". Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks to fantastic Kaladorn's work. May I introduce...your pilot.

If you can get hold of the MT rules it would be well worth it, I would say. There's a large amount of MT that is just like CT, but there's also a significant amount that has changed.

The main three things IMHO would be the Task System which allows the referee to present any task in a uniform way. I found a brief description here. One thing it doesn't mention is that character stats can be used as modifiers as well with every complete 5 points giving a +1 bonus.

The secod major difference is combat. Hitting an opponent with a weapon is now a task. How much damage is then done is based on the penetration value of the weapon versus the armour value of the defender, modified by how successful the hit roll was. Damage is measured in CT dice (rather than actually rolling the dice) with your STR+DEX+END determining how many dice damage you take before unconsciousness and death. Being shot without armour is very very dangerous now. Cloth and Reflec give a sporting chance of survival.

The MT books also include a much expanded equipment list that would be useful for kitting yourself out (unless we're told what equipment we have available).

Hope this helps. I must stress I've only read the MT books so far (only played CT) so if I've missed an important bit, I'd be interested to hear myself...

Chris

Not having the MT books would make playing a little more difficult, you will have to make it through the best way you can. If I make reference to some of the manuals, I will try to give a brief summary.

The task system is key.

The basics take about ten seconds and are all I ever taught my players.
Simple 3+
Routine 7+
Difficult 11+
Formidable 15+
2d6, skills add as value if relevant, attributes are attribute/5 (round down, I think).

Know that and that pretty much covers the major thing you need to know, since pretty much everything is a task. <shrug>

Damn it I go on night shift for the week with plenty of time to roll a few characters nad come back to find all the crew berths filled. Is there a high passage stateroom available for someone that really wants to get to the next world, any world.

My apologies as it was me who jumped in. Diocletian did mention something about a Vilani admin heavy character who could easily be included. I think it's near the top of page 2....

If you don't like the sound of that, I'm happy to step aside so you can take the gunner position and I'll play the Vilani. I didn't want to muscle you out.

I can add a sixth player to it, if there is interest. The person would not be a member of the crew, but an agent of one of the Vilani Megacorporations. This character must have a ground based bureaucratic backgound. Like Merchant admin or the corporation career in the MT players manual.

This person would not be a military type, but a pressed suit businessman type. Person's main skill must be Admin. Also must have Vilani sympathies or be part Vilani.
From that it sounds like you can generate it yourself like the rest of us did - you just might have to fudge the odd dice roll to ensure you get the right merchant branch and some admin skill.

Chris

So far the following characters are generated and placed on the game board at playbyweb.com:

Grant Singleton - Gunner/Ship's Broker
Jarem Travis - Gunner/Steward
Pieter DeVoort - Medic

Once we have all the charcters loaded up, we can proceed with the game.
