Music to Travel By

There might be a generation gap here, but aside from the one Star Trek sound track, nothing else really appeals to me. I have never been a fan of "heavy metal" rock.

For your standard starport bar or night club encounter, might I suggest

Beneath the Surface by Balligomingo

Very pleasant female vocals, a mix of soft rock and new age ethereal electronic music, with a definite sci-fi feel.

There's a group called Caravan Palace, they call their music 'electroswing', it sounds like it's from a past that never was. Lone Digger is one of their bigger hits.

At the other end, you could relabel some old classics - if no one in your group ever listened to Gregorian Monks' chanting, you could play some of that straight up and come up with a Vilani name for it.

There was a group from the early 90s, Enigma, that used Gregorian chanting as a background for more modern music.

Depending on the campaign, you could have some fun with it - have a backwater planet whose most popular music is the far future equivalent of Rickrolling. Or K-pop, or whatever else sets the PC's teeth on edge.

Or the music for the evening call to prayer is something from Saint Elvis of Terra.
