You may have seen my post on the write up, but I ran a one-shot game for he and his friends. They loved it. They asked me to make a campaign.
So I've been working on a Pure CT Only campaign.
Then my son discovered Mongoose Traveller. He thought the rules were easier. They're more presentable for he and his friends. So, he asked that I run Mongoose Traveler. His reason is that he wants me to run these games so he can learn how and then run them for his friends. When I pulled out all my CT stuff and started going over what's where, and started making a "player book" for he and his friends he balked a bit at what he perceived at the complexity. It's not, but he's cut his teeth as a gamer on Pathfinder. While I've started showing him 2nd Ed AD&D and a few others (all flesh must be eaten was a Halloween game I ran for them) he still likes the production value -- and Mongoose won.
And, we just dumped a bunch of money to buy the key books I thought we'd need and he would like.
MgT and CT are close enough that I haven't lost any of the work I've done, but I have to make a few changes and then I need to really learn the rules myself. The only version I had was a PDF I bought when it came out, but now we have a hard-copy.
So, looks like I was outvoted by my son.... I don't mind, at least he wants to play Traveller. And he and his friends are excited.
