Need help finding a house-ruled Character Improvement system

Hi, all.

A short time ago I stumbled across someone's house rule for Traveller character improvement, but I lost the address/link/way. :(

The system involved rolling 2d6.

A character could improve normally or even with a critical success or critical failure, thus possibly losing a skill level.

Does anybody know this house ruled doc or system, and how I can find it again?

If using the new Mg2e the improvement system it's rather easy and handy. I reward players 1 'week' per adventure session, plus I can add or take weeks if they have done well or poorly. It seems to work well and easy to use so gaming can romp on. Also modifiers on the improvement roll can be given/taken as well.

Just my 2p worth.

is there some reason you don't want to use your own system?

book 4 outlines a training system for recruits. it's based on recruit intelligence and instructor skill. iirc success is 8+, +1 for recruit intel 8+, +1 for recruit intel 11+, +1 for instructor skill, after six weeks of instruction. could adjust this however you like - say twelve weeks for complex skill like pilot, +1 per instructor skill level above sought skill level, etc.
