New Look

It is nice to see "Canonical References to the Alpha Crucis Sector," unstickied. ;)

So how do you find older threads such as the Planetary Maps and Starport Design threads?

This will take some getting used to...

Interesting new look (though the grognard in me doesn't like any change!). I preferred the old colors, though, as they matched the space theme.

Speaking of which, where did the starfield go behind the graphics at top-o-page?

Also, how do you get the smileys now? They don't appear in my "Reply to Thread" page like they used to. I can type some, but not all.

Well, I am certainly glad it's back up. I was starting to gnaw the keyboard when I saw the FYI page come up.... :o

Edit: And that smiley didn't work.... supposed to be : o end edit

Hehe give me some time to get all the kinks worked out. It had taken so long to get the thing ported over I decided to at least open it up again and work on the little stuff as we go.

The color scheme I'll probably change to match the old site, this is just the defaults. The background I'll get into place.

On the smilies showing up available on the reply forms I may need to add a mod for.

Actually, I found the smilies: you have to change your profile to use the "Standard Editor" rather than the "Basic Editor". Haven't tried the "Advanced" one yet....
(I also posted stuff in the other thread in CotI Website Issues.)

New Look and New Power!

There are a few rather nice features about this "new" software...

one is that, if you click on User CP, any thread you've posted to or subscribed to that has new messages is listed.

The New Posts menu item is all new posts; it's pretty worthless.

The standard editor supports ctrl-b bolding, ctrl-i italicizing, and ctrl-u underlining modes. In the standard editor, you can trigger whilst typing, or highlight and click/key-command it.

Also, individual messages may be titled

...all the way at the bottom of the profiles, didn't go deep enough earlier.

Thanks Fritz Brown, full WYSIWYG mode engaged :file_22:

Yeah this thing has a TON of features compared to the old boards. It was worth the time and money investment I think. The thing I can do with it behind the scenes are quite nice.

And I see someone found that I uploaded the avatars back into the system. ;)

Oh also go into your User CP and select Edit Options. You can control a lot of stuff there including the type of reply controls that come up for you (ie: WYSIWYG)

Thx. Eventually I figured it out. It's down there on the lower left. I was looking at the upper right.

The only other place I know of with the multi-quote was the nationstates forums. Could've been fun if it wasn't such an idiot-hole. Looking forward to using it here. A higher concentration of quotable cleverness.

I sort of half-miss the pseudonym option, but frankly it caused me more problems than it was worth. I was on another computer and forgot my login wasn't really Alik Morikan. meh...

It's good having this back up in any case. I was jonesing :)

This is one of 3 boards with the multi-quote that I freqent. (KODT and Catholic Answer do as well.)

It's really nice, when you need it. And it's easily ignored when you don't.

One drawback, though... it doesn't preserve nested quotes; it deletes them.

Heh I haven't tried it yet. Too many other 'under the hood' goodies in the Admin section for me to play with right now!

Yeah I thought it was a very good feature for the forums, but yes it also caused problems like you mentioned. Particularly since things like the Moot are also based on the login name. I'd still like to see if I can get a mod to do it though.

I am so glad that CotI is back. The other forums I frequent just don't compare.

And with the upgrade, I feel like I have a whole new toy to play with!

Three Cheers for Hunter!
