Personal Avatars

And I see someone found that I uploaded the avatars back into the system.

Now all we need is the "link to image" personal avatar setting ... it would be nice to recognise myself on CotI as I do on every other board.

It's there. I used it! Bottom of the avatar section.

Only mods and admins are currently allowed custom avatars.

The problem with making them available to everyone is control and delay. No telling what someone will put up as their avatar and if it is an offsite avatar it may take time to load or not show up at all and show as a broken link.

You mean the ones in the Avatar selection that aren't showing up but are also duplicates of ones that already exist?

Yeah. It's the versions with white backgrounds that are missing.

Think it is because the system doesn't allow JPGs. Haven't looked into it yet though to be sure.

By the way, the links in the Index threads seem to be broken, going nowhere but to a grumpy Imperial Marine. But man the new search function is smoking fast.

Links that were to other posts in the forums will have to be repaired manually by editing the post and link to point to the new forum location. Sorry about that, only so much an importer can do.

Hi all,
Greatly relieved to see the forums back online this morning. I'm never much of a poster but an avid browser, I hadn't realised how much of my downtime was spent reading these forums, you never know what you had, 'till you miss it, eh?
Thanks to Hunter and the other mods getting it up and running again and the new format looks great though it'll take a few sessions to get used to.

Is it possible (with all the new behind-the-scenes gizmos) to have a general avatar pool and a private avatar pool? In the private pool, each avatar will be allocated to only one person, after vetting. This solves both the monitoring and the broken links. Just another 2Cr.

PLEASE can we have the months written in full again? You chaps across the pond write the numbers backwards and it makes them jolly difficult to read.

Honestly it would be a pain to set this up and handle it every time someone wanted a personal avatar, not to mention the extra space on the server for each one (they do add up eventually ). I am willing to take avatar submissions and make them available for general use. I might also look into making things like custom avatars available for say Moot members.
