I don't think the molds are that old. It looks to me like the Vargr were the next figures in the pipe for release in the MegaMinis Traveller line of figures but then they lost the license (or whatever happened that they are not producing Traveller figures any longer). I'm guessing they had already done a run of 200 sets and then got 'stuck' with them. Or had already made the molds and after losing the license made a limited run to try and recoup losses.

The sculptor works in an almost retro style, reminding me of RAFM from 15 years ago.

Johnny Lauck has apparently passed the *starship* minis off to Ad Astra, but retains the RPG license. Sadly, his experience has been that limited runs sell better, so get these NOW or never. It's not a sales model I appreciate in the slightest, as (among other factors) it forces me to buy on his schedule instead of mine. The utter destruction of the masters and molds is also criminal, no matter what justification he uses.

Yeah, I didn't know that he retained the RPG license. That *DOES* suck! I don't recall this 'limited run of 200' BS being the case with the Droyne, though.

It wasn't, but he reports not selling very many, and taking a loss as a result. Someone on TMP has already called him on his marketing efforts prior to this current eBay offering.

I have bought at least one of everything he has so far produced for Traveller, and I feel badly served by this development.

I didn't see the Droyne minis but he said he might do some Hiver or K'Kree minis in the future.

Tough crowd.

I'm glad we have new Traveller minis at all, limited edition or not. It's not like anyone else out there is rushing to support the game at the moment.

I picked up the Vargr minis, and they are very well done. I read this morning that the next two sets, Newts and K'kree, are being sculpted right now. I'm looking forward to both, and anything else that comes down the concourse.

Stan Johansen Miniatures (www.stanjohansenminiatures.com) has 15mm minis in their Star Armour series. I'm uncertain about the troopers set, but the adventurers 10 minis set are definitely the old Martian Metals adventurers figures minus the vehicles. And last I looked at his sight (I buy the dinos with guns set you see off & on on ebay) they were $10.00 for all 10 minis. And he now takes PayPal.

I'm restocked via trades & careful buying on 15mm minis. But I could use some Zhodani & Aslan, hopefully someone will produce a new 15mm line.

Hmm. I have a couple of the old MM sets, and the ones he's selling don't ring a bell.

I think they may have come with the the speeder mini. At least that what box I found them in when I relocated some of my missing Traveller minis a few years ago. The one female character my wife until I picked up the 15mm SJ Cardboard heroes sets. The captain-lloking mini oddly enough was used as PC rogue character. I sold the adventurers when I sold a bunch of my gaming minis & books to pay for med bills. Human minis are easy to come by & I could replace some of them. The speeder was easy to replace since I found some cheap plastic ripoffs at the toy stand at Perkins.

Don't know exactly how I missed this thread back in April. I thought it was about the MegaMinatures line of Traveller star ships.

So, are there any of you who did buy these 25mm Vragr who would consider selling a few?

Just asking, PM me if you are interested..

Lou

I did some research (admittedly some of it with my wife) and those minis may be reissue of old FGU Space Opera minis. She remmebers when that I bought a bunch of Traveller AND Space Opera stuff through Judges Guild & the 2 gamestores (1 now long defunct) in the Omaha area in the 80's.
Makes sense. It was pretty hard other than mail order to get Traveller minis & materials in Omaha back then.
