Best Deckplans for Traveller with Minis?

Mako

SOC-12
I'm interested in some deckplans for use with either 15mm/18mm, and/or 25mm/28mm miniatures, and would like to know what is available from various companies, in either printed form, and/or PDF downloads?

I'm thinking squares, or hexgrids in 3/4" for the former scale, and 1" for the larger minis. From most of the examples I've seen, square grids seem best.

Looking for more interesting ship layouts, with at least two corridors, and/or two decks with single corridors, to make things a little more tactically interesting (smaller ship's boats and pinnaces won't really work for my needs).

Ideally, it'd be nice if there were poster-sized deckplans already printed, that could be shipped in a mailing tube, though I guess with a PDF, I could always get them printed at the local copy store.

Nicely detailed prints, in color would be great, but I'm not against the classic black and white mats either.

Looking for some nice designs, with interesting layouts, for some decent boarding actions, and role-playing skirmish options.

Very high quality artwork, and/or reasonably priced deck plans are preferred. If there are any bundle options, with several ships available at a discount, that'd be great. Image previews, and/or details on the approximate sizes of the deck plans are a plus.

There are quite a few available at rpgnow, although they mostly seem to be variations of Scout and Free Trader. They have square grids.

I looked into getting one printed off at full size, but when I tried to stitch the page images together to create a single ship, there were gaps. In the end I printed the pdf using Reader's poster mode and scaling to 150% (I think. I wanted it for 28mm stuff). I then glued the pieces to mountboard and cut them out.

It looks okay, but scaled to 28mm, the Scout is over two feet long. I'm not sure how big a multi-deck ship would be.

There are also the SJ Games deckplans, although you'd probably have to get them from ebay. I bought most of them when they were available, but I'd still like them to release them as pdfs.

The four sets of Classic Traveller deckplans by FASA are excellent for using miniatures, Adventure Class Ships vol.s 1 & 2, Merchant Class Ships and Aslan Mercenary Ships are well illustrated and quite large is size.

Uncertain of your location but most office supply stores have a quick-print counter that should be able to produce large format deckplans, such also offer laminating service to prolong and protect said prints.

Mind my personal choice but I find black & white or monotone deckplans better for tabletop use than full color for clarity and ease of reading, some full-color plans seem to lose detail in the splash of colors and textures shown.

One last bit, don't discount using some items to 'dress-up' the flat surface of any deckplans, I've found Lego-Lego compatible pieces make for nice 3D objects when needing to represent furniture, fittings or just random clutter found inside a starship.

I've got several posters and matching minis from Ryan Wolfe from his Kickstarters. The Grendle is basically the Beowulf. You can do a search for 0 hour - he has leftovers he sells, and the posters are scaled to 1" = 5' with a grids. He covers several gaming and movie genres. The posters are double sided and good quality - they come rolled up. I plan on actually hanging them in my office at work - they are that nice and I am that geeky (it will go nice with my Borg fridge...)

Ares Dragon and Venture Class ships by DB Game Design have 1" scale deck plans available (for pay what you want).

[Confession time: I drew the deck plans. D.B.Games has other plans, I just don't know anything about them, but you might want to check them out.]

Of course, if you need 15mm instead of 1" (25mm) plans, then never mind.

I've used the CT deckplans as a basis for a MGT game using 28mm minis. I just drew the squares on a 1" battle mat. I used the old Star wars minis from WOTC in my game.

I've always found having a laminated clear overlay. with a grid or hexes printed-inked on such, to be a valuable asset for tabletop play with most any game.

A piece of foamcore-Artcore board is also a good investment, I would suggest something of a 24"x36" or 36"x60" size.

I like SJ games deck plans products, and I think you can still find them on Amazon. I used a clear sheet of plexi-glass plastic over mine when I used to play. What I really need is a smaller version of those play on deck plans, to use behind my screen.
