OTU planet descriptions

Hi all

I remember when I first saw the official Traveller universe on a massive, wall sized poster at a friends house I wondered how anyone could have detailed an entire universe like that!

However, what I am now wondering is, is there a place where system/planetary descriptions are coalated. I play T20 and I'm every so often I have to make up descriptions for systems that my players decide to go to and I wonder - has someone already described this planet? Is there one place I should go on the net to find it? If there isn't, should I try to create one?

Hi Frank !

Sadly I know no existing common place for data like that.
Guess this information is distributed over thousend or more harddiscs

JTAS has an archive for campaign settings containing a number of detailed system.

I have no central place for this myself. The canonical stuff is located in the specific booklet.
Well at least Heaven & Earth stores detailing information in a pretty way, but all the rest is just "somewhere" :(

I surely would be glad about a common archive for that (and even about a common format).

TE

Would the TML Landgrab be what you are looking for? I don't have a link right now and I think it is ALL Non-Canon, but there is a LOT of info out there.

Can someone provide the link to the website?

The Traveller Wiki to the rescue:

* This page has a list of all worlds mentioned in canon for CT and MT.

* This page has the list all the current world write-ups we currently have.

If you know of any source of worlds you would like to see added, let me know.

Thanks tjoneslo

Those are pretty awsome links!!

I'll go through the modules I have and the T20 books I've got and give you any data to add.

Check back at intervals, as I'm adding more things as I find them. And some day, I'll have assisstance...

Regina is somewhere a lot more PCs have been.

Capital/Core is a long way off.

(Although it is a favorite subject of mine.)

Hi !

Ok, if we put some of the personal products inside the Wiki...
Should, or how should we specify, that its a MTU thing ?
We surely will receive multiple entries dealing with the same topic (which is just fine).

E.g. if I would supply a complete system description of Rhylanor, with system maps, planetary maps, data, descriptions etc...

Guess I need some help with this Wiki stuff.
Anyway its perhaps a great chance to put all the stuff produced inside.

Errr, tjoneslo is there a size limitation ?

Regards,

TE

Engineer,
If you register in the wiki, and post this question in you user's talk page, I'll show you everything you need.

Yes, personal products are welcome in the Wiki, as long as they don't deviate too far from the OTU. And we have a way of including multiple versions of the same topic, and marking the Canon material from the non-canon material. Maps and other graphics welcome, but only JPEG, PNG or GIF, no PDFs or other types.

RoS: Absolutely.

I'd say a "PTU: RoS" type flag.
For stuff unique to one of the published editions: "OTU: TNE" "OTU: MT, TNE"

Since Wikia runs the same Wiki as Wikipedia, we get a little more sophisticated than that.

Every article can have one or more categories. So all the library entries belong to either a "canon" or a "non-canon" category. And there are categories for the type of item (worlds, weapons, goods, slang, culture, history, etc.), and if it relates to a specific grouping (e.g. by species: Vargr, Hiver, Zhodani, etc. or government: Imperium, Regency, Hive Federations, etc.)

In addition, we have a source tag for each entry, so we can find the original source(s) if needed. And make sure authors get credited properly.

Hmm... I have a fairly comprehensive page detailing as many references as I can find to worlds in Deneb Sector - some of it is not really suitable for the Wiki, being too minor, but I should at least make sure the major entries are in there. Oh, for more spare time! ;)
