Pimped some guns for Traveller

And I prefer the sharp-edged, felon-sticker type I have on my own carbine, but ACR's are supposed to have "shoot-through" RAM grenade launchers and I figured that this thing looked like an appropriate fitting for such a gizmo. It's close to the kind of grenade launcher device on M14's and other weapons of the time when Mercenary came out and described such things.

Me, I let players buy under-barrel launchers these days so they can have their ACR (or G-rifle) shoot its main ammo type and still have a grenade ready to fire without having to stick it on the end of the barrel.

OK, last two for now:

And, another take on the laser carbine as a bullpup unit with the power jacks behind the grip and a swing-out foregrip.

Now I have to stop for a while before I pimp again.

Consider these images stolen! I just didn't have enough patience with that program to go through all the options.

LOL!

For the impatient among us the app is getting updated soon to a new version that allows the complete breakdown and assembly of all the parts of the weapons in it (and new weapons will be included), but even better - it will allow for saving works in progress and allow for saving multiple files to be reassembled later for easier variations of any weapon you make.

Glad to hear this.

Now I can swap out and compare even more of what my wife calls "gun-candy" for my weapons without having to explain to her why I really, really needed to have a new flash suppressor when I already have a "perfectly good one, I mean, do they wear out or something?" !

My answer now can be, "Well just look how cool it'll look on my carbine! Bad guys will just roll over and surrender if I merely wave something like that in their general direction!"

Yeah, like that'll work...but I can try.

OK, I'll see your Homeboy Special m'Lord, and raise you a wee more dakka: belt-fed autoshotgun with rail-mount laser carbine and RAM auto-launcher - this is bling with bang. Let's see how far we can push the envelope and still retain a semblance of operability?

But seriously...here's another take on the gauss rifle

...a couple of laser carbines:

...a laser rifle from the same manufacturer:

...and finally, a "Dragoon" style power gun for one of my players who just had to have something "big and scary enough to kill anyone he just waved it at" (yup, those were his design specs):

The new version of Pimp My Gun is out. It's not as diverse yet as the original but it is pretty good and has a lot of promise for breaking things down to the level of gas tubes, bolt carriers, and other detail.

Anyway, I made a couple more guns with the old version to match things in my game in case anyone is interested, and then made an SSG-88 (my 20mm gauss support gun - or CPR depending on model- for firing collapsing rounds) with the new version of the app.

Here's a RAM Grenade Launcher:

A cut down autoshotgun that's SMG sized. Painful to fire I imagine, but think of the potential destruction of an automatic sawed-off. It is caseless and makes an awful ruckus.

This is a long time favorite among ship crews ever since Alien came out: the napalm rifle. The fuel bottle (good for 5 shots), or the hose to a back pack tank attaches to the plug in front of the trigger guard.

And here is the SSG-88 mod2 (gauss version) for use with BD and firing 20mm collapsing rounds or standard KEAP/KEAPER ammo. The new version of the application doesn't have bipods yet so I used a gun barrel and AK-47 gas block to make the bipod. Nor does it have the sort of compensating stock parts I need for the BD hook ups. But this'll do for now.

Also, the weapon usually doesn't have a scope - it uses the BD Smartgun HUD system in the operator's helmet. But one can be attached if someone doesn't have the system and is firing it from a pintel mount on the grav ammo sled that acts as a gun carraige for the non-BD equipped.

One of the fun things about Mongoose Traveller, particularly the Central Supply Catalogue, is the wide variety of weapon subtypes and customisation options.

Here's my current PC's weapon: a gyrostabilised Navy model Gauss Pistol with holographic HUD and laser pointer.

Hmm, maybe it's because it wasn't finished yet, but last time I visited PMG, I found the new version very confusing. Ok if if you're a gun-nut who can strip and reassemble a gatling in 5 seconds, but I hadn't a clue what to do with the profusion of unrecognisable components. I was ok with the old version where I could fit a grip, an action and a barrel together, but individual pins and slides was a bit OTT for me.
I'll have another look sometime.

Pistol gyrostab is a MGT feature I ignore. IMTU gyrostab is about 10kg, 10L. You can lose one on a FGMP15, but they make a real mess of your pistol holster. :)

I agree with Evil Steve, no need to know real gunsmithing. If anything it may be an impediment to creativity and thinking outside the box. Weapons of the Far Future may be very odd looking indeed. As long as the basic ergonomics are the same for human weapons (trigger, stock/grip, sights) the rest can be pretty much whatever you imagine. And of course alien weapons can even ignore the human ergonomics.

On the other hand, having a starting point can be useful. And it's still there but not obvious. If you haven't found it yet, click on "File" and select "New" and you'll get access to the menu of pre-loaded full guns to modify.
