The book I first saw his work in was called Expedition which was a fictional survey of a planet called Darwin IV. I think it was PBS that did a CGI version of the story.
You might recognize his creatures in the movies Pitch Black and Avatar.

I reckon they are hivers. Some adventure loving, extreme sports hivers.
I just checked the links section of his website. A direct link to Wayne Douglas Barlowe. After looking at Barlowe, I realised I have his book of aliens.
They aren't Hivers. These things are more centauroid by the looks of it, and also appear to be bilaterally symmetric (and they have four petals and four eyes, not five). The similarity is probably down to the flower-like head and the eyes arranged between the petals.
