Published Traveller Designs

I'm looking to see if anyone actually came up with creative variants across the editions.

creative variants across the editions.

Of standard (or previously published) ships? Components?

The "Type" deckplan lists on the G+ Community might be one guide, but "creative variant" may be a definition like "Art" and "⌧" ("I can't define it fully in words, but I know it when I see it.")

CT was a big enough job, and I haven't attempted to tackle other versions yet (I did do a GeekList for Classic 2300AD). An MT list would be pretty big, especially if you include the designs published in fanzines.

I am presently working up a 600 dTon cargo ship based on a stretched 400 dTon Subsided Merchant. Does that come under the category of creative variant? I am using Starter Traveller for the design, but if you want, I could also add a Mongoose Traveller design as well.

He wants designs from published sources.

Very useful, but no MT/TNE/GT/T4/MGT designs listed.
They all tend to stick to trying to design the common CT ships under their particular version of the rules.

Due to incompatibilities between ship contraction paradigms from edition to edition many designs from one system can not be built in the others.

E.g. to get the common designs to work MT had to build all common ships at TL15

You can build a passable TL 9 Type A.

Due to using Bk7 as the basis, you can't make decent money on it, but you can make a ship that works.

Note that, under CT Bk5 even, you can't get some of the iconic designs at TL 9. In CT Bk2, the component restrictions are maximum drive size and maximum computer, not maximum performance. It's a thoroughly different paradigm than even MGT. And some of the iconic designs under CT aren't TL9, either. The Patrol Cutter isn't. Drive H is TL 10.
The Merc Cruiser has drives M. TL12
The XBoat has a model 4. TL 10.

Is there a list, before I go beat my head against a rock and start one?
I don't know of one, but I'm willing to take on a mini-project and compile a MegaTraveller ship list. Could post here or I might be able to build a Google doc. Others could choose other editions and add to the list/database.

I think that members of this board could "swarm" lists together for these. For the Mongoose designs, check the Mongoose Traveller forum; some folks there are bound to have compiled lists.

As a matter of fact, I'm getting a strong deja vu here. Have we swarmed ship lists like these before?

Don, I don't think it will be useful, but I have a list of 108 ships from CT and T5 (and a rare MT, MgT, and TNE) here: http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Discuss/showthread.php?t=30094. Most of them are published, but a few are not.
