{REF SCREEN} What do you want?

Heh, light years ahead of you all, I've had one of these (gold instead of black) for nearly as long as I've been gaming. Picked it up way back circa '80. Now why didn't I think to market it as a customizable ref screen, d'oh. But I do prefer the nice light cardboard for travelling.

Now this is a good game shield:

I have to agree in a way with an earlier poster about flowcharts for combat and such. Although they might take up too much room on the screen itself, they would be perfect for an insert book.

I like the Citizen Games idea, too. One thing I have heard some people say over the years is they wished the screen was wider than it was tall. What I mean instead of having the screen like an 8x10 standing on the 8" side and have a 10" clearence, have the panels designed to stand on the 10" side and have an 8" clearence. That gives the GM two more inches to be able to see the table, dice rolls, and miniatures better.

Just something to think about.

The best shield I have ever used or seen is The Gamemaster's Guild Ulimate GM's Screen. It was a 3 ring binder 2 1\2 inches wide with four panels instead of two on a normal 3 ring binder. Each panel had a transparent cover under which you could put any artwork or charts. The four panels gave a very sturdy shield and the ability to customize each side of each panel gave maximum flexibility.

I wish I could find another one of these as mine has suffered from years of use.
