"Replacement" Worlds

Hey all. Thanks to you answering some silly questions of mine, our first CT session has gone off spectacularly. I mainly used Gamelords' "Wanted" and "Startown Liberty," which segued into a deep-space salvage mission, and my subtle hints to head to Vanajen for a sale were successful. Next session we'll kick off Research Station Gamma.

HOWEVER, I wonder if ya'll could suggest some "replacement" worlds in the Spinward Marches to stand-in for some others.

How about Gaadpadje (Night of Conquest)?

Argon (the Argon Gambit)?

Vahjdi (Uragyaden of the Seven Pillars, FASA)?

Galatea (Rescue on Galatea, FASA)?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Travellers.

Mate - I do that all the time. It is my Spinward Marches after all. Back in the early days of Traveller I put Far Frontiers immediately spinward of the Marches and kept it there. Remember it is your game and the Thought Police are just a Zhodani plot-device.

Yes, after a while I thought one thing that Traveller Library Data Canon
should contain was:

"YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"

As sort of a catch all to all the various hairbrained things that a GM might
plan.

Then I read some of the stuff that others were doing, and my hairbrained
stuff wasn't so hairbrained.

So I simply distinguished MTU from OTU and I can do anything I feel like.

< does anyone hear a siren? >

I just don't game with people who say YOU CAN'T DO THAT anyhoo so it's no big
deal.

Putting Far Frontiers next to the Marches isn't such a bad idea, especially
with the Travel Distances involved. It won't make the canon grognards warm &
fuzzy but that's satisfaction in itself.

That's sorta the one drawback about Official Traveller is that it was
literally all over the map, and if you had an on-going campaign you were SOL
on figgering out how your players could get from the Marches to Reavers Deep
without going broke and going senile and ... So you simply swap things out
for local flavor and it works.

< cue sirens!! >

Agreed. The Traveller Known Space always brought to mind the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and the description of space.. . it's really big. . . so big that. . .etc.

Someone somewhere (I don't recall which forum) is collapsing Charted Space into only a few secotrs, for mostly this type of reason.

When I come across it again I'll drop in a URL.

Regards,

Ewan
