Reptii?

Border Reiver

SOC-14 1K
Reptii? :eek:o:

Devouring worlds and small fleet?

Preying on the weak and making meals of them?

I know I said it was nice to make the game accessible to 12 year olds again but really....?

I hope this isn't going to set the standard, Traveller was always a little bit more than this. I assume these "aliens" have a quite remarkable biochemistry that they consume all they meet without ill effects. An ill thought out concept in my opinion. They'd be better off using the Hhkar.

Nothing wrong with the ships at first glance and they fit in quite well with the Hhkar idiom too.

And I just bet the Reptii turn out to be lizardmen too.:D

I can dismiss the supposed species details as propaganda. It was the "countless galaxies" line and the missing "really, really" in front of "short range" in the Magnetic Harpoon description that annoyed me.

Oh, and having little to no indication of how those deckplans are supposed to stack, much less which decks belong to which designs.

You truly believe those Reptii could be reptiles ?

Must have been an outstanding author to come up with such a
misleading and creative name ... :smirk:
I'd make them insectoid just to get the bad taste of Reptii-Reptiles out of my mouth...

Judging from the description, it should be Close range at most, if not Adjacent.

Will surprise the hell out of you when you find out they are butterflies. . .

:rofl::rofl:

Hell, Matt. You knew when you took this on we would be a hard audience. :p

Still, if they are pseudo-butterflies they'll scare the bejeezus out of my wife, she's totally lepidopterophobic. :D

Yeah, naming a reptillian species "Reptii" just isn't Traveller...

...not like naming a somewhat lion-like species "Aslan"...

...or a wolf-like species "Vargr", which I believe is Norse for "wolf"...

I got the impression from the fluff that these guys are a threat from outside the Imperium and maybe even from a "Traveller" setting in another galaxy entirely.

Allen

They
slowly roar across the galaxy in search of ripe worlds
:rofl::rofl:

At jump-2 damn right it'll be slow and probably not very far before they reach a dead end.

And only 3 command ships.....ever. And "several" gunships. I'm quaking.

"We've spotted the Reptii fleet my Lord Admiral. Shall we bring up the Tigress squadron?"

"No, commander. Leave it to those two Sloan class escorts. They ought to be ample to deal with such an irritating distraction."
:smirk:

Sorry, I'm becoming facetious now. My second worst fault after being a patronising ******. :D

So do these Reptii live permanently in their "assault barracks" in jump for a week without "facilities?" One fresher? :eek:o: Alien biology again. :D

And what are the crews/troop levels for these vessels? The Deathclaw looks to carry 24 Reptii and 10 frozen. What's the breakdown?

I think you need to recruit a Traveller Canonista or Gearhead to review these designs prior to publication.

Enough criticism. I like the concept. I would prefer a bigger command vessel but obviously Core MGT has its limitations. The deathclaws should either be (IMO) non-jump vessels (carried on an open frame jump vessel?) or larger and more heavily armed/armoured.

I would allow the harpoons to be a fixed firing accessory and not something that takes up a valuable hardpoint.

I'm sure the'eeb or something like that is Arabic for wolf, been a long time though I remember that the word for fox was interchangeable and carried more significance.

Vargr is definitely old nordic for wolf and also meant enemy.

Vargr are old Norse. Varg is wolf in swedish, and it is also used as name in at least Norway and probably in Sweden too.

Back on topic.
Are MTG going the same way as T4 when it comes to canon? Or are they taking up the badies from the core setting that DGP never managed to plot out? For me it sounds too much like the aliens in either "The Sign" and/or "Independence Day".

As fas as I can see it, it is just one adventure in a free download magazine.
I do not believe that this one adventure does tell us anything about the style
of future MGT supplements and adventures. For this we will have to wait for
Spinward Marches and Beltstrike, I think.
