Request: CT Safari Ship Deck Plans

Vanyon

SOC-8
Hi all, I was looking at some of these awesome ship designs and deck plans. One ship though I have always had a lot of fun with was the classic safari ship from Supplement 4. I saw the link to the luxury safari ship, however the link did not work for me.

So I am wondering if there is any place I could find the deck plans for this vessel? Or if the link from the sticky in this forum where all the plans are collected, to be upgated or maybe I am doing something wrong.

Any help getting a set of deck plans would be appreciated.

Do you know about CT Adventure 10: Safari Ship? That goes into great detail about the safari ship. I's one of my favourites, and it's based on the mini-sub from some old TV show I can never remember the name of ...

Ah, google says it's "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea":

Failing that, here's a deckplan of a merchant version of the same. Be sure to check out the other deckplans on the site, too.

You're kidding me? LOL For some reason I did not have the old CT Safari ship booklet.

Was it a mini-adventure or its own little book?

TY for the link and the pic, those are both awesome! I never knew it was based off the old manta from that show. Weren't the ones in the show capable of being both a submersible and a fliying craft?

With the merchant vessel it is missing the two environment chambers for captured animals. Those can easily be added though. TY for the help with this and the link.

The PDF on the CT cd-rom is blurred.

If you don't mind paying, you can buy the GURPS Traveller Classic Ships which has a deckplan based on the CT design (as well as others). It's pretty cheap though $7.95...

Otherwise on the web there are some for free...the safari is right in the middle...

No, we're not kidding. Most of the CT "loyalists" here (including me) have a copy of Safari Ship Adventure (the old CT LBB, one of the LBB adventures). And if you simply got that LBB, you'd have the best deckplan of a Safari Ship, and you can scan it or photocopy it to your heart's delight.

At one point... I actually had TWO copies of that LBB.

But one of the players in my current Trav campaign became soooo fond of his Safari Hunter character (who coincidentally mustered out with a Safari Ship), that I kindly gave him my secondary copy.

My remaining copy? I'll never sell it. It's in perfectly MINT CONDITION. No chance in hell I'd sell this to anybody here. Sorry.

Also, Vanyon, you do realize that should you ever consider purchasing the "CT CD-ROM" from FFE (aka Marc Miller), then that Safari Ship booklet would be included in the CD-ROM. You knew this, right?

Look for Safari Ship (Adventure 10) on eBay or NobleKnightGames.com .... it occasionally pops up there for sale.

Well actually, I must admit to some ignorance about all the incarnations and such for the Traveller Universe.

I played the original CT when it first came out and I was a young 12 years old. I purchased a lot of the books and really enjoyed the game. Then when the friends I played it with moved away, all I was left with was AD&D...

So Traveller went on a hiatus, but always had a fond spot in my heart. So now with Mongoose publishing a CT like system that I like so far, I conned my group of players to give it a shot and now they are loving it.

So, I am not really up on what material is out there and what form it takes yet... I am reading and looking :) and always willing to learn more if people are willing to share their wisdom.

So off to FFE to go see the price fo this CD...

Also, I think I should ask in another forum really, but there is word of another CD with a 1000000000 page book on it from Marc that is a new and really expanded version of T5?

(PS: Marc if you read this forum, love the stuff and always have. TY for making CT )

Hell, that was an awesome ship!

Adventure 10 said:
Safari Ship (type K): Using a 200-ton hull, the safari ship is an excursion vessel intended for trophy-taking (actual or images) expeditions to other worlds. It has jump drive-B, maneuver drive-A, and power plant-B, giving a performance of jump-2 and 1G acceleration. Fuel tankage for 60 tons supports the power plant and one jump-2. Adjacent to the bridge is a computer Model/1bis. There are eleven staterooms and no low berths. The ship has one hardpoint and one ton allocated to fire control. A double turret is installed, but no weapons are mounted. There are two ship's vehicles: an air/raft and a 20-ton launch. Cargo capacity is 6 tons. Two 7-ton capture tanks can hold specimens, and a 7-ton trophy lounge serves as a hunters' recreation area. The hull is streamlined.

The safari ship requires a crew of four: pilot, navigator, engineer, steward/medic. A gunner and additional personnel may be added. The pilot normally operates the launch; the steward normally operates the air/raft. The ship can comfortably carry a party of 7 (various double occupancy arrangements can boost total capacity to 20, including a crew of four) on expeditions; it does not engage in commercial passenger service. The ship costs MCr81.08 (including 10% discount for standard designs) and takes 11 months to build.

I'd say get the CT CDROM. I bought the MT CDROM and before I could say "honey" she had bought it for me as a gift. You gotta love a woman that allows you to feed your inner geek :-)

In a campaign years ago, a buddy of mine gen'ed up a corsair who got himself a ship of the same type on mustering out. So as to not unbalance things, he agreed to swapping it out for a safari ship and we had many great adventures using it. Years later I had a noble use one as his yacht and the players loved it too. It's a darn fine adventuring ship.
