COMMENTS
The Response Class System Defense Boat is the mainstay of inter-system protection for the people of Sidur Haski. They are typically deployed in Patrol Squadrons of 3 ships from several planetoid bases around the system. The crew also acts as bonded Customs Agents, inspecting vessels entering the system. Four special Patrol Squadrons are deployed from classified underwater bases, identical to the planetoid types. A total of sixty (20 Patrol Squadrons) are in service as of 1105. The Response crews train extensively in rapid deployment exercises and rescue scenarios.
The Response SDBs are well crafted and reliable, and streamlining precludes the need for supporting ship vehicles. Factor 6 Ceramic composite hull armor affords the crew a fair modicum of protection in combat.
All Response SDBs carry a ten-person highly trained marine squad to handle any unruly visitors to Sidur Haski. These specialists are selected based on how well they endure long duty intervals. An interesting feature of the class is its Cargo Bay. This can easily be routed into the fuel scoop system and filled for additional Power Plant operation.
The impressive Maneuver Drive is split into four distinctive drive modules. These easily removable modules allow for rapid drive replacement and servicing, and most bases have a maintenance rotation in effect, swapping damaged units for newly serviced ones in minutes.
The Response has a distinctive armament configuration, a single Beam Laser flanked by two Three Payload Missile Racks. The two turrets are positioned on port and starboard sponsons, giving the ship left and right zones of attack, as opposed to Top and Bottom. Two 100-missile armored magazines are stored in each sponson, minimizing explosive effects from damage to the main fuselage.
