Robert Prior is looking for volunteers to test Shipyard on non-Mac systems

Hello all,

Here is a message that Robert Prior submitted on the JTAS Design board:

With the latest release of Revolution, I finally have the runtime engines to port my OS X starship design software to UNIX and Windows.

Of course, not having any of those platforms myself, I need someone to help test the software -- and possibly to add icons to the final files.

UNIX flavours: BSD, Hp9k700, Iris, Linux, rs6000, SolSparc

If you would like to volunteer, send me an email and I'll forward it on to Robert. I volunteered for the Windows version of Shipyard. The program is based on GT: Starships and is easy to use. One note is that the file he sends you will be compressed using the program Stuff It.

Hello Hal,

Hi Dave...;) Sorry I just couldn't resist.

Anyway, what version of Windows are you using, I guess I should've included that I'm using Windows XP. I'm sure Robert wouldn't mind another Windows user adding input, also if you have any programming experience he would really aprreciate any help. So far I've uncovered some bugs that appear to have been caused by the program, Resolution I think, when he converted to Windows, Unix (and related languages), and up dating to Mac OS X. If you would like to volunteer send me an email at tmr0195 at concentric dot net, and I'll forward the email to Robert.

I can't do that Dave...

Actually - you'd laugh because where I work as part of a two/three man crew, one of the guys I work with is named Dave. I also lip read as did Hal from the movie

Fortunately, I'm not as homicidal as that particular HAL ;)

As for which operating systems, I have both XP and 98. The only recent programming experience I have is Visual Basic (I own a copy of enterprise edition) - and that only at the hobby level (self taught). As they say however, anything I can do to help I'd be happy to offer - meagre as that help may be.

Morning Hal,

Yep, I'm laughing at both the post and the email. I'll forward your email to Robert Prior and let him know your interest in assisting with the Windows version of Shipyard. I've taken 3 programming courses, which taught me I'm not a programmer. Anyway thanks again.
