Robots vs Robots (vs Robots)

SOC-8
I was all set to buy the Mongoose Robots book and then I found about the 13Mann one. Is anybody able to give me an idea of how they compare?

I've read a some non complimentary things about the Mongoose one but not seen much about the 13Mann one. Also I can get the Mongoose one as whole atoms from a real shop rather than just downloading speeding electrons onto my hard drive which is a big plus for me.

Or the other alternative would be to save money and adapt CT book 8 which means I can use DGPs 101 Robots too.

The 13 mann robots is very good, design sequences and plenty of example - similar to a combination of CT Book 8 and DGP 101 robots rolled into 1.

The mongoose book looks more at how robots interact with society and robot development from the dumb ones in the 3I to classic robots in scifi.

I would go with the 13 mann book or the CT Book 8

PS don't forget the megatraveller robots book available for download

Agreed. The Mongoose Robots book is really better for the referee than for the player, and even then it's best treated as fairly abstract. The design and generation sections are, as written, pretty much unusable. 13Mann, by contrast, has a fairly workable system and not much in the way of background material. If you can afford both of them, they actually complement each other pretty nicely, but if you can only go for one of them, the 13Mann product is more useful.
