Salt Slugs (of the non-animal variety)

Sorta. I did up a full range of shotgun rounds for MT (MegaTrav) back in the day. Saboted rounds (high pen), Tactical rounds (low recoil), Rubber rounds (less lethal, crowd control - might be your beanbag round), Explosive rounds (breaching round), Gas round (crowd control, tear gas), Flare round (signal/illum), something called a "Cracker" which my notes are silent on beyond the name and stats. Don't you hate that? I have no idea now what that one was about. Maybe someone can make some guesses that might twig my memory or will know what I was attempting to model. And HE, HEAP, and KEAP.

One of my list of many things to type up to share :) Give me a few minutes while I do that and rest my supper...

Vargr,

Here's a page of some of the exotic shotgun shells that are offered.

I think what you are looking at is similar to a pepper shot round with a small impact (depending on how fine the rock salt is ground). It's about halfway down the page. This is different than the pepperball rounds which are like paintball rounds filled with pepper spray.

You could also treat it as bird shot.

Talk about exotic ammunition!

Bola shotgun rounds? .12 ratshot? Razor-sharp steel tacks instead of shot?

Good grief! You could write a whole supplement just for shotgun ammo.

My father told the tale several times about being shot in the butt once with rock salt when he was young and how much it stung. I don't recall the details of the story such as what range, did the rock salt penetrate his jeans, etc. I do recall that it was NOT a tall tale he was telling, but of course he may have added some details for dramatic flare.

They use them on barges too. They may claim it's for "hobos" but I don't know if they've ever shot at one. But they use it to scare animals off barges.
