I read my copy last night at work.

Don't forget the article on the White Matter of the brain. If I understand that article correctly, you could have an environmental factor inhibit the development of the white matter in the brain and have humans who become physically adult while their mental/emotional development remains that of an infant (worse beyond what we recognize as retardation).
