Scout Missions

[Spinward Scout]

Hi All!

I was just reading Tom Clancy's Submarines and realized that a Starship is just a Submarine in space. There's a part in the book that talks about the submarine's missions and I came up with this list of missions that you could use for a Scout/Courier. How do these sound to everyone?

MISSIONS
Scout Exploration
Scientific Expedition
Survey Mapping
World Census
Courier and Package Delivery
Surveillance/Intelligence
Criminal Escort/Guard
Rescue
Covert Mission/SpecOps (Insertion/Extraction)

Did I miss anything? Is there something that other people might use the Scout/Courier for (either ligit or not)?

Smugling (though you could make the case that that is just a special case of covert ops)

Low income housing in an asteroid belt (for those surplus scouts with blown jump drives)

Orbital bombardment (As amunition not weapon. This option is for scouts not even usable for the above.)

Sector wide floating crap game.

That's all that springs to mind imediately

How about the Scouts perogative toward establishing First Contact with a species that have just gone interplanetary on the fringes of known space or taking it back the milieu 0 where things have either been forgotten or never discovered?
