Selfcontained Thrusters in FF&S1

Zparkz

SOC-12
I am currently toying around with FF&S1 to make some large transport aircraft, but are a bit stymied by the MaxT factor in the self-contained thruster table. Surely engines can perform better than the listed maximum thrust? How would an Airbus 332 be able to fly properly? It just got two engines. My initial opinion is to ignore it.

What would you recomend?

Evening Zparkz,

Depends on how you interpret MaxT. On one side the Max thrust produced by a 1 cubic meter turbofan is 6 tonnes, while a 2 cubic meter turbofan is 12 tonnes. On the other side the max thrust is 6 ton regardless of the size of the turbofan.
I don't have the thrust characteristics for an A332, but I do have them for an A320. According to my reference had a max static thrust of 11,340kgp, which I think converts to 11.34 tonnes of thrust and approxiamtely a 2.91 cubic meter turbofan. With this information I would say ignore the MaxT if interpreted as 6 tonnes.

Of course I could be out in a field somewhere;)

IMO if you need to, just ignore it (though you should probably make a note of that in your write up of the aircraft). Howevwer, in the case of the airbus, remember it's probably using HBT (High-Bypass Turbofan) engines, and their MaxT is 20 tons (about twice that of an Airbus engine, IIRC).
