Several new (and converted) HG designs

Since I am converting MTU to High Guard, here
are a few new and converted ship designs. All ships are in common use around the Solar
Triumvirate and in mass-production; prices are given with a "class" (80%) discount and no
Architect's fees. All were done using the HGs software.

This is the most common escape pod in the Solar Triumvirate. It can carry up to 20 people in emergency low berthes for a practically unlimited duration; solar panels are installed to provide long-term power for the emergency low berthes after the fusion powerplant's fuel runs out.

COMMENTS
This is a HG reconstruction of the Type-S given in LBB2, resulting in a higher cost but much more cargo space. A "Flying Soucer" (Configuration 6) variant is also available, costing MCr40 - I'll post deck plans for it later on; they will be a bit difficult to make (more complex geometry) but I think they'll also be very fun to draw and use. The Scoute/Courier carries an Air/Raft, has fuel scoops and a fuel refinery installed, and has one double turret mounting a missile rack and a sandcaster.

COMMENTS
The Gallant-class Yacht is considered a "cheap" kind of yacht, possesed by upper-mid-level corporate execs and moderately powerful government officials; the uper crust uses larger, more expensive models (such as the 600-ton Nymph-class Yacht). The Yacht is equipped with fuel scoops and a fuel refinery, and carries a Slow Boat and an Air/Raft (inside the Slow Boat).

COMMENTS
The Dolphin was the primary space-superiority fighter used during the Matriarchate War, when
it was used to protect the Solar Triumvirate’s ships from the Matriarchate’s Diane-class interceptors. Today it is still in wide use as a light, cheap fighter; while it cannot even hope to contend with the contemporary armored, high-tech military-grade fighters, it is still highly effective against most corsairs and second-rated raiders. It is also very common in the use of pirates and mercenaries. It is also occasionally used for planetary orbital defense in the frontier areas.

The Seeker is a variant on the Type-S2 Scout/Courier modified for astroid prospecting and mining work. The Air/Raft, two of the staterooms and some of the crew space have been removed to allow for a larger cargo bay. The Seeker's cargo bay is loaded from the rear acess door/ramp, which is 9 meters wide and 3 meters high.

Ayyeeee! I can't read the things, 2-4601! They scroll too far to the right to work with. Can you put some carriage returns in your "code" lines? (I think they are not auto-wrapping.)

Like 'em. Favorites are how more cargo space became available in the Scout and very much like your interpretation of the Corsair (2333).

You might want to check out the 100T Solomani Scout in the shipyards here:

for inspiration regarding deckplans for a "flying saucer" shape.

Why did you give the Police Frigate a Slow Boat instead of the regular Ship's Boat? I've always thought of the Ship's Boat as a "poor man's fighter" for anti-piracy patrol and general search and rescue work.

Do your shipyard/drydock/engineering companies (Martian Mechanics, StellarDream, and T-Y-C) have recognizible architectural styles?

deckplan-ologists want to know...

T-Y-C designs are brutally practical and quite simple. They're a heavy industry and military industry megacorporation originating from the massive privatization of the Russian economy in the 1990s (well, a few more mergers after today's situation) and the Chinese economy in the early 2020s, so expect alot of practical thinking and very little regard for aestetics (sp?) or crew comfort. They are also one of the two major military contractors for the Solar Triumvirate (the other one is Martian Mechanics).

About the two other corporations I haven't decided yet, but Martian Mechanics designs would probably be a little less orthodox than norm, and StellarDream focuses mostly on civilian designs, except for a very few military ones (especially fighters).

Your footnote on the Seeker does skip the one detail that adds to the charm of the "class": It is usually converted from aged Scout/Couriers. It may also have downgraded drives. These can make the seeker much cheaper to actually acquire. If I were building an asteroid mining craft *new* I'd be doing things differently...

COMMENTS
The Eagle-class Heavy Fighter, first unveiled in 2332, replaced the older Dolphin. It saw extensive use by both sides during the Insurrection, and, despite being replaced by the Blizzrad-class Missile Boat in primary combat duties, it still serves as a cheaper alternative and as a defensive and system-defense interceptor.

COMMENTS
The Trout-class fuel shuttle is intended for use by unstreamlined ships and stations that have to rely on frontier refuelling. The fuel shuttle is capable of skimming gas giants and fuel-dipping in planetside oceans, and includes its own fuel refinery; it provides its mothership with clean and very cheap fuel.
