SMC 154th Battle Rider Squadron Reputation

An old idea has been rekindled by another thread. I'd always wondered how the scenario of the 154th Battle Rider incident at Lysen would actually play out...

...Third Frontier War.

In operations at Lysen, the 154th saw action against the Zhodani 18th and 198th Cruiser Squadrons attempting to force their way through to Lysen's surface. In a feint, the Zhodani commander committed thirty-four Zhdits class Destroyer Escorts against two Battle Riders holding station off Lysen, and saw thirty-three of them destroyed by deadly accurate fire. The two Battle Riders then returned to the main battle and assisted in driving off the cruiser squadrons with only light damage to themselves.
Any thoughts on how likely this actually is?

assuming HG2, very likely. the zhdits is 400dtons and has a model 5 computer. up against a rider with a model 9 and multiple factor 9 laser batteries, each battery at +5 to hit and inflicting 5 critical hits on a strike, the zhdits wouldn't stand much of a chance.

Makes one wonder what the Zho fleet commander was thinking when they tried it. Was it not a feint but misdirection and the actual mission was a success despite the loss of the battle?

probably neither, just some author trying to write a dramatic story.

in any case war is messy. read somewhere that a bad general is wrong 98% of the time, while a good general is wrong 95% of the time.
