Solomani Ships TA?

Past mid July, still don't hear any cheers.

Do hear a sound suspiciously like peseants sharpening pitch forks.

Now where'd I put my torch?

Well hunter is around, he has banned / close a thread in the mongoose traveller discussions, so keep chasing him.

Cheers
Richard

Is this a T20 product? If so, why?

Mongoose Traveller is undoubtedly on the forefront of most Traveller fans' minds right now, much more than T20, and Mongoose allow people to release material using their Traveller rules under the OGL. You can't call them Solomani ships under the OGL though, so you'd have to make them more generic. So why not do that? If you aren't doing that then it seems that you're just cutting yourself out of a big market, aren't you?

It's a T20 product because all the ships were designed using T20.

It's been in the works for quite a while now.

And QLI can still publish OTU material without using the mongoose license IIRC since Hunter still has the rights to.

Long in the making, finally there. But could you delay it till August? I have a Revell M901 ITW and an Academy M981 FISTV on my buy list of July already :)

That's fine. Just don't expect many people to care anymore. The T20 boat has long since departed, and while I'm sure that some people still play it, if QLI haven't come to an arrangement with Mongoose to provide OGL stats for the ships then I strongly doubt that this will sell well.

For someone who has complained about "trashing others", your post seems rather hypocritical.

Besides, T20 designs can be used as is in CT and MT; the USP ratings match pretty much across the board; they are just laid out differently. So, in essence, it's a CT and T20 book, with some usefulness for MT players as well.

Andrew: good! Finally!

Nice try, but you're reading it wrong. I'm not trashing anyone, just being realistic. T20 is not what most people are playing anymore. Maybe it was when this product was originally planned but the market has changed and the current version of Traveller that most people now turn to is Mongoose's. If they pick up a new Traveller product and then look at it and say "what, this doesn't have MGT stats?" then they'll probably just not bother with it.

But it's still not very useful for the majority of the current Traveller market. Nice for people who still play T20 and CT maybe, but not as useful for everyone else who is using Mongoose Traveller. Well, whatever.

So... what product will QLI be releasing after this?

And for GT games I use the ships as background anyway (GT space combat's not that great IMHO) so the fluff and pictures is the important part for me

Traveller isn't that huge a market anyway. Then it has been fractured with widely differing rulesets. Virtually each ruleset for Traveller has conversion from CT in one way or another. (Some better than others.) CT is as close to a Universal Traveller as there is. Pen and Paper RPGs have lost a major portion of their market share to MMO. (If it was still such a big business then Mongoose wouldn't be dropping their Babylon 5 license.)
