Nice plans...as always.

I was wondering if there should be an airlock that directly accesses the passenger area - so they only have to tromp through the upper cargo bay when embarking from the ships boat?

Also, bigger cargo lifts would be useful. If someone wants to ship a couple of dozen airafts a few parsecs then this ship can't do it - insufficient access to the upper cargo bay.

Oh, and the launch can unload large-ish cargo to B1, the Launch Docking Airlock, that can't be gotten through the hatch into the upper cargo bay (That place again!).

If I seem to be sounding nitpicky, I'm not (honest!).

Keep up the good work!

2-4601,

I know you've been asked this before but what do you use to make these wonderful deckplans?

And now for my teeny-weeny quibble...

For security reasons, I'd move the passenger accomodations forward putting the uper cargo bay between them and the drives. This would allow access from the launch to the passenger section without having to pass through the cargo bay.

IMHO, One of the biggest problems with the CT version of the Type-R subsidized merchant was that huge passenger lounge directly aft of the bridge! MTU's redesigned version had the crew and passenger lounges switched and the low berth place between the passenger lounge and upper engineroom.

One of MTU's regular designs; the 300dTon Grote 'clan' trader', has all passenger accomodations on one deck accessed by it's own lift and hatch 'trunk'.

Have fun,
Bill

About the security considerations, keep in mind that all iris valves are lockable (typically with a keycard, you could upgrade to biometric at any Starport-B or Starport-A if you want better protection).

2-4601,

Thanks!

Ahhh... but locks are meant to be picked and/or defeated! And this lock is in the passengers' living space. Plenty of ways for the passengers to 'stooge' any surveillance and work at the lock(s). Read Escape from Colditz for a few ideas.

I'd rather have as many locks on as many doors between the passengers and the bridge/engineroom. Especially on the Beck's World - Enope run!

Have fun,
Bill

P.S. SUPERB Sollie courier plans too!

The crew had better be used to each other, though. Nine people in a 15'x30' room, with the only escape being onto the Bridge...

Hi !

Very nice deck plan.
Guess it would look pretty cool from outside

Where are the crew accomodations ? Just A2 ?
Could You think of a combined cargo deck (6m ceiling) in the middle ?

Best regards,

Mert

A2 is the crew accomodation; one "half stateroom" each (the "stateroom" tonnage also includes other things, such as life support and the lounge - which they share with the passengers - and the ship's locker; so a half-stateroom is 1-dton per person). Remember that Solomani crews use double occupancy even on commercial ships.

IIRC, submarine crews have far less than 1.5mx3m per person... Plus, with the typical Solomani computer/cybertech, off-duty crews could easily "escape" their tight quarters into VR. Imperials use drugs and alcohol instead to pass the boring 7-day jump.
