I hope I'm not re-inventing the wheel - there's just so much stuff out there for Traveller by dedicated fans. But I've been mucking around in GIMP and Open Office and thought I'd share a few things I'd done. I'd love any other ideas and feedback.
A Mega Traveller style Character Sheet - an Open Document Format Template done in OpenOffice Write: http://www.box.net/shared/2f9dzh9dz5
A Mega Traveller style World Handbook Details Sheet. http://www.box.net/shared/facjtg4peg. Yes, probably redundant in the age of computers but I rather like pro-formas that can print on one page. Can then be used as part of a wider document that covers other things such as maps and thrashing out the text to lovingly detail a world.
Lastly, a blank Traveller World Map (the famous duodecahedron) in GIMP format: http://www.box.net/shared/t4tbhzykv0. The image comes with a grid configured to 31 x 18 pixels for easy placement of hexes. I have also included a hex brush that can be used with this image and the grid directly and, of course, edited to come up with your own terrain key: http://www.box.net/shared/kfb0zgb2gs. You can get GIMP from here.
I also wanted to share at this point something I found useful for doing coastlines - a line fractalizer plug-in for GIMP. It can be found here. The idea is that by using the Path tool in GIMP you can make a fractal line that makes for realistic looking coastline after you've laid down the initial basic shape yourself.
I'm currently detailing a world to use in campaign and thought I'd share some of the stuff I'm starting to use.
