Space Pod Crab 03 - Utility Craft

Just stumbled across this nifty little vehicle on the Starship Modeler Store, looks like a nice fit into the Traveller Universe.

The design allows for modular fitting of needed components so very versatile for the needs of both starports and starship operators.

Anyone care to stat the vehicle out as a small craft ?

Mounting a manoeuvre drive A, the star port utility pod is capable of moving objects many times its own 3t size (up to 1000t at 0.1g); its own performance is limited to 1g maximum unloaded. Requiring a crew of one, the crab class utility pod costs MCr5.

Its onboard battery allows for up to two days of continual operation and can be recharged by a ship or station power plant in under an hour. Its life support is limited to only 24 hours, so these craft never stray far from their base or mother ship

Its modular design allows for the option of heavy to light lifting robotic arms, cutting tools, medivac pods or even fine manipulation tentacles.

The crab class utility pod can be encountered at nearly every star port C and above.

Hmm, I see it more as a 10 dton Freight Handler Pod from Mongoose Traders & Gunboats

One interesting configuration suggests the vehicle can be attached to a boom-arm or a larger platform-vessel, so might be possible such would be involved in salvage or prospecting roles.

I want this because my sci-fi minis are all 1/72, but $42 is a little pricey right now. I will have to be patient....

Agreed about it not being a budget-priced item but there are two separate kits in that kit so lessens the sting a bit.
