Star Wars and the Droyne

Blue Ghost

SOC-14 5K
Knight
Okay, so I'm doing some very casual research/brainstorming for work, and am also contemplating a few other things while I got Star Wars EP II playing in the background. Not my favorite flick, but I hadn't seen it since I bought the DVD, so... anyways, glancing over at the TV I notice Anakin and Padme are in that droid factory run by sentient wasps.

A thought occured to me... those wasps sure do look like Droyne, sorta-kinda. Emaciated, but Droyne-ish... after a fashion.

Just thought I'd share.

Absolutely! The Geonosians definitely remind me of Droyne, although I'm pretty sure it was coincidental.

Have you seen the old Wing Commander games or the movie version that came out, the same year as Star Wars Episode 1? The kilrathi have a strong resemblance to Aslan.

Both of which bear a striking resemblance to Niven's Kzin and Webber's Starfire series' (Game and Novels) Orions.

And how about Watto in Episode 1...doesn't anyone else think that he makes the perfect Droyne merchant...absolutely determined and feeling superior to everyone else...and why else would Jedi mind tricks not work on him...because he is already fraakin' psionic.

Watching Blue Harvest yesterday (Family Guy) where the father tells the story of Star Wars (using the show's characters of course), the neighborhood pervert is Obi Wan and he shows Luke his lightsaber, and proclaims something like "lots of people in the neighborhood have them" then the scene cuts to a farmer guy sitting on his porch, with a light-saber hanging from an awning and frazzing insects like a bug zapper...then Watto flies into it and gets zapped screaming "Why would you have that on your porch, it looks so tempting!!!" in that accent...

Heh, with a calsign like lucasdigital I figured you'd vehemently deny it :smirk:

Serisouly, I'm also sure it was unintentional. But it just seemed really cool and odd all at once. I'm not a big Star Wars fan as such, but a little escapism is kind of neat.
