CT Only: Starter Traveller Free

Thanks for the heads up. My well worn printed version was missing pages and for some reason my electronic version was only the rules book and not the charts.

Thanks, I'm picking this up. My version from the CT CD has an upside-down page. For several books, I have found drivethru products I bought before getting the CD-ROMs to be better scans than the CD-ROM versions.

This is how I've been able to recently get re-started with CT after having been on hiatus for 30+ years.

Heck, my first CT purchase was Starter Traveller, back in the 80's.

Don't let the name fool you. "Starter" Traveller has just as much stuff in it, if not more, than LBB 1-3. It's the only place to get Range Band Book 2 combat. It's got the pulse lasers rule.

I think it's called "Starter" because it's got less than the Traveller Book.

Thnx Sup-4, thats all one needs is the basics! Everything else is fluff.

Actually, the box doesn't have significantly less than TTB had.

Same: setting overview, CGen, Pers. Combat, World Gen, Subsector Gen, animal/encounter gen, trade rules, personal equipment rules. The Shadows adventure, the ship combat damage mechanics.

TTB adds: a generated canonical subsector (Regina), a brief bit of additional setting fluff (about 4pp), drug rules, vector-on-table ship combat system. Exit Visa adventure.

ST adds: range band ship combat system, Mission on Mithril adventure.

Thanks. I've been spending the last week just using this PDF to generate characters. I'm just getting started, but I've been having a blast.

Yes, I agree. Starter Traveller is a solid set of rules. It served me for years. I fell in love with the line art in it--to me, THAT is still the "Traveller" look.

I remember being disappointed when I first got the LBBs 1-3. I thought I was missing something. Between LBB 1-3 and Starter Traveller, I'd go with ST.

Then, I finally found The Traveller Book (a friend gave me his!), and that's been my standard CT go-to book ever since.

Order of preference:

01. The Traveller Book
02. Starter Traveller
03. LBBs 1-3

I still prefer the LBB, but Mission to Mithril is one of my favorite short adventures for Traveller. I will have to mention the free download to my game design class. Is there any way to get permission to print a few copies of Mission to Mithril?

It's in the starter PDF.

I was thinking of printing a few hard copies for my game design class, so that they could take them home at night and go over them. Not sure if it would be acceptable to simply have them bring in a flash drive and transfer it from my computer.

not per the TOS of DTRPG, but you can certainly instruct them to download it from DTRPG.
