Survival Margin and Rebellion Sourcebook?

Cymew

SOC-12
I want those two.

I just lost an eBay auction for RS and am bidding on another and hoping it will not race away in price...

Maybe you have Rebellion sourcebook and want to sell it? I'm also interested in Survival Margin (and CT Alien modules if they could be found). (I don't like the format of the FFE reprints...)

I live in Sweden and have already concluded business sucessfully with Citizens. I'm sorry I can't pay with cheques.

Anyone?

I would encourage you to reconsider the Alien Reprints. The two Alien volumes are done in portrait format, not landscape like the rest of the reprints. The Reprints even have full sized, full color reproductions of the Alien covers.

So they are in proper, landscape format!? I'll never understand what Marc is doing with those reprints. ;)

Then they sounds very much more interesting all of a sudden.

Survival Margin and Rebellion Sourcebook then?

Amazon.com's Z-shops usually has a copy or two of Survival Margin and the Rebellion Sourcebook pops up there from time to time. Mind, you probably won't like the prices but they *are* fixed :D

Yes, they are in proper portrait format.

I have seen both Survival Margin and the Rebellion Sourcebook pop up semi-frequently on eBay. The prices never seemed too outrageous.

I bought my Survival Margin from the Traveller Trader, and my Rebellion Sourcebook through eBay. I think I paid $10 for each of them (before postage, of course).

theSea,

Thanks for the link. Right now, Survival Margin don't seems to be available from anywhere...

Thr Rebellion sourcebook had a kind of stiff pricetag, but not much more than what it cost on Titangames last time I looked. *sigh*

Maybe I'll have to pay $25 for the sucker after all.

Daryen,

You have had luck. I've been looking for Traveller stuff on eBay all summer and Survival Margin haven't been showing up yet. Maybe I'll have to be more patient.

I find eBay a very "interesting" place to shop. Worthless junk can cost thousands and somtimes nothing. I've had some bad luck with Rebellion books costing quite a lot.

Do the Traveller Trader ever update their inventory? It doesn't seem to change much, from what I've seen. I've heard many talk well of it as a source for Traveller goodness, but they don't seem to have much to choose from.

I guess I have been luckier than I had realized. Sorry for rubbing it in. I didn't realize it was that hard to get hold of.

TTT does change his inventory, but it seems to go in spurts. I have gotten some various things from him (including Survial Margin, GT:Behind the Claw and a laminated SM map) for what I thought were good prices. But TTT does go through "dry spells". This must just be one of them.

Cymew --

Hmmm... I just found a copy of Survival Margin here.

I *did* warn you about the prices

You can also try Noble Knight games - although somebody seems to have cleaned them out of MT stuff at the moment. I've dealt with them and they seem pretty solid.

I've found that the real tricks to Ebay are discipline, patience and persistance - decide what you're willing to pay - never bid more than that on anything. Be prepared to lose a lot of auctions. Check frequently and wait for the right deal.

I also usually try not to bid too early in an auction unless I think it's something that's fairly common.... those things you put your name on early and you'll usually get them (i.e. CT books and other things that show up over and over). With the rare stuff it's best to wait 'til later as that's when you'll find out what it's really going to cost and you can make your decision then.

"Now" costs extra ;)

As far as the Traveller Trader goes - I believe Swordy's in the process of moving so restocking TTT is on hold for a while - but again he's great to deal with. If you want to stay current with him there's a mailing list you can sigh up for.

Good Luck - if I run across a copy of either I'll keep you in mind.

I hesitate to mention eBay strategies to potential competition, but what the hey? ;)

By "later" he means in the last minute. Literally the last minute of the auction. Do not bother to bid before then, as you are just raising the price. I cannot stress this enough.

It does suck, and everyone claims to hate the last second bids, but if you really want something, waiting to bid at the last second is going to be your best bet to get it for the lowest price possible. (Or at least you can make the !@#$^@ who wins it pay a lot more than he expected.

That crossed my mind as well - but these aren't really secrets... just shaving the learning curve a bit.

Well - there's a difference between last second bids (sniping) and waiting to see if there's strong interest in an item... every time I see heavy bidding in the first two days of a seven day listing I think "fools - they're only raising the price." Chill out until the last 6-24 hours on anything you think might generate some heat. If it's still unbid on the last day there's a good chance you'll get it.

Bidding on day one for most things is just a way to develop an attachment which will cause you to pay too much later

And if you're going to snipe - wait as long as you can and bid your absolute maximum. If you get it great, if not it'll come around again - patience grasshopper

And only snipe when you simply must have an item.

Anyways - that's my reading from the Zen of E-Bay for the day.

Oh and Cymew--

There's a rebellion sourcebook in this lot and here and a Survival Margin here.

Good luck
