Survival Rolls: Those First Three Stats

I cut down my own trees (I own the place) with a bow saw. After seeing what the loggers did to a friend's property taking timber off it, I'd rather not call them in.

I get several deadfalls each winter, I'm still cleaning that up, then I take out about 2-3 mature trees each year and cut them into firewood. Unfortunately the woodstove in this house doesn't draw its air from outside the house, so it's more for show than for real heating. With energy prices rising, I should knock together a vent out of sheet metal and save myself some money. I've got 7-8 cords of wood just sitting around waiting for termites to move in (our winters are pretty mild, we usually only burned about 3-4 cords each winter at our old house with the real, working wood stove.)

I'd like to increase the number of trees I take this year, so I'm thinking of picking up an electric chainsaw for cutting up the timber once it's down. I used to own a gas chainsaw, but I gave it to a friend because I was spending more time maintaining it than using it.

You have to get a timber dealer who knows how to deal with home sites. Regular loggers would destroy your property including possibly the house.

Bow saw? Not for trees 18+ inches (45+ cm) in diameter. It may work great for clearing scrub oak and that sort of thing. Unless your bow saw is a lot bigger than the ones I have used. And it sure will help you get some exercise if you do that much cutting.

my odyssey continues...

okay...
Getting up at 2:55 to exercise is a real pain. At least I get to listen to the BBC while i lift weights.
Discovered if i even do a routine two days in a row i am in danger of getting bored, so i will change things every day.

Haven't had a soda in almost a month. I still get a sugar fix with my hot chocolate, but i sure miss the fizz. maybe i'll try some club soda with my gatorade mix.

Trying to keep on the 'no-smoking' bandwagon, too. Over two weeks from saturday, cold turkey. Now people on the shop floor are wondering why the random screams come from my area...

Hang in there! You know you are better off without those cancer rods.

I used to tape rugby off sky to watch while I exercise. It seems to keep things from getting stale. Now I don't have satellite service, it's not as easy to pick up the weights on a regular basis...

Good job! I find that carbonated waters and club soda work pretty well. I need the fizz for digestion, myself.

Scream away! Congratulations. Keep at it.
