Picked up Pocket Traveller today. It looks good! New artwork and I hope no big errata. I also scanned through Traders and Gunboats - some unfinished art (you can tell it's pencil drawn) but it still looked good. Lots of new ships. That's going on my list to buy. And Scouts, too! But of course...

I wish they'd make all of them pocket sized.

I bought the pocket Trav on a lark, since I had never actually owned a Trav rulebook. (Aside from some G:T stuff.) Now I have T&G, and I just ordered HG and SW…

And yeah, I wouldn't mind a pocket series, even with the eyebleed font.

I think it would not hurt Mongoose's sales to forego the 8.5x11 books and just print everything "pocket sized" It might even sell them more copies. My gaming group has been thrilled with the Pocket Rules and has been buying them.

Hate to be the negative one but I hate the pocket book size. Not that I really care if they produce them just really don't think that ONLY producing them in that size is a good idea.

I agree, I also have no use at all for the pocket books.

Me too. I know folks love em but I like things in an easily readable size - something more like the size that the Witchcraft RPG was done in (actually, all of the Unisystem books except the show adaptations). Or the format size for Burning Wheel. I find myself carrying those around because their easy to do so with.

Of course, the thinness of the regular Mongoose Traveller book was also quite easy on the backpack, and I found that easy to carry too. ;)

:D

Overall, its a fabulous version of the game. One problem with Gurps Traveller was the cost, you needed the Basic Books plus Gurps Traveller to play.

With 3e - this was rather pricey - you needed the basic book plus the compendiums plus space to play.

With Mongoose Traveller - you just need the basic book and the whole SF universe is yours to explore.

I really liked classic Traveller for that reason, the basic three books were all you needed and you were good to go.

;)

I have the pocket rulebook and love the size but hate the small print size, I think my eyes are catching up to my age lol. I also have the spinward marches, and traders and gunboats. I like the text size easy to read and all that but I would prefer a pocket format in all honesty. I could get me a small magnafying glass to read them, it just makes me thing CT with the pocket book. All my CT LBB's are kept in a 5.56mm army ammo box water and air tight. Easy to transport I would even like it if mongoose came out with a pocket size character sheet. Well even all the game sheets in that size catagory.

The print size isn't any smaller than the average paperback book. Don't tell me none of you read paperbacks because that would be just too hard to believe.

Also, fits in your pocket!

:D

I know alot of Traveller fanatics that would prefer all releases to be pocket sized, myself included. Wished they offer a choice.
