"The ubiquitous Type SN"

In White Dwarf #70, there's a new "bounty hunter" career with a mustering-out benefit of a Type H Hunter ship.

The write-up says it is a variant of "the ubiquitous Type SN". The variant displaces 100t and costs aout MCr37.82.

What is the type SN? Is it a Seeker? Just how ubiqitous is it?

I believe the "type SN" is the Serpent-class scout ship from JTAS #2, but I could not find my JTAS #2 to confirm...

A good thought Don, but I checked, no mention of Type SN in that article, just listed as Type S. And the price is different.

Taking it as the standard LBB5 code Type SN would make it a Scout - Nonstandard. The very antithesis of ubiquitous

It's not ringing any bells for me.

I thought that White Dwarf actually published some (pretty decent) plans for the Bounty Hunter vessel. It was a variant of the standard Type S scout/courier, IIRC.

You'd have to figure that there were a number of ship builders out to get the Imperial contract (or still are) for supplying the IISS with 100dT M2J2 scouts. A lot of those designs would be re-designated for other purposes when the competitors lost out on the contract.

Maybe the Serpent was first, then the Sulieman was selected as a successor, and the others found their way into service as yachts, prospectors, couriers, or even bounty hunters.

Always thought there weren't enough small boys jetting around.
