The Waffle House Index (Travel Zones)

Or at least coffee.

As long as it is not Heinlein's Grade 5, Carbon Remover. Grade 4, Jamoke, is doable with enough cream and sugar.

As for breakfast, biscuits and sausage gravy, corned beef hash and scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, or sausage links and scrambled eggs. Oatmeal with raisins, brown sugar, and butter is also a winner. Grits, I will take a pass.

Hmm, need to come up with a good name for an interstellar breakfast chain.

Sowbelly's is located in New Austin on the planet of New Texas in my Piper-Norton Out Rim Sector. Aside from the K'kree in the OTU not being close, they do not exist in my Heretical Universe. I have never warmed up to the idea of intelligent herbivores. Omnivores yes, carnivores yes, herbivores no.

The Big Mac index is a measure of economic equivalence.

The WHI is a measure of infrastructure and sustainability.

Waffle House, apparently, is noted to being very resilient to local conditions.

Waffle House is a regional chain, it is not everywhere, but it has a lot of locations in the American South right around where there are lot os Hurricanes.

I'd wonder if in the Traveller setting the absence or presence of a particular chain restaurant is a back of the hand measure, and the items on the menu and the price of a particular item.

I bet there would be somehting like that, but it really dpeends upon how local most rtrade has become.

Sowyaburgers - I can't believe it's kosher.

Alternately, "Made from 100% GMO ruminant pork!"

Durians - prohibited item by all passenger aerospaceships.

I can see the SPA inspector tucking one of these in his lunchbox, to test the life support / air filtration.

"Hey you can't eat that in here. Take it outside!"
"But this is an orbital station."
"That's your problem, citizen."

Ah, but we will be having Durian at the missions convocation at my church in a couple of weeks. Also some Balut Eggs, but I need to think about those. That is what happens when two of the attendees are from the Philippines. It will be good to see them.

Edit Note: As a measure of my strangeness and odd man out tendencies, I do like Durian.
