Titan Battledress: T5 Mecha?

Armor and Robots. Armor for sophonts and Humaniform or Sophontiform robots are produced in Standard (same size as the Sophont), Oversize (double size), and Titan (triple size).

For example, an Oversize Humaniform Robot is twice the size (height) of a human. A Titan Battledress for a human is triple the size (height) of a human (p 223).

I was struck by the illustration of Titan Battle Dress-13 on page 224.

Has anyone played around with these larger armor sizes to simulate mecha?

TL-13 is interesting, and suggests that some theatres of the Solomani Rim War might have featured mecha and robot units slugging it out. The Confederation at this point was mostly TL13 and many Imperial units, particularly reserve ones, seemed to be TL13. I could also see that battlefield meson guns would probably render titan battledress obsolete -- what TL are those introduced? TL14?

I've done my share of poking around at Titan Battledress and similar. The upper edges of the non-Fantastic tech levels have some of these very large armors.

I've always thought they were great industrial/manufacturing robotic platforms -- if you needed/wanted sophontiform robots, that is. Just stick a brain in there (any kind) and wire it to the suit, and you've got a robot. Or of course giant robot combat...

Oversize and Titan

I used the new Apple App Store ArmorMaker to crank out both Oversize and Titan suits, mecha if one wants to call it that. Strength x100 is quite a lure. Tack on a Titan weapon from WeaponMaker and you can play Traveller5 robomecha wars all you like. How to fit it into the OTU is my current dilemma. I enjoy the Ultimate-Stage, Oversize, Heavy Drop Dress as it reminds me of the novel Starship Troopers.

Glad you're having fun with my WeaponMaker and GunMaker apps.

I'm personally not a fan of mecha. If I played Jovian Chronicles I would remove that element from the game.

At least the ones in T5 aren't transformers.

I think such things work within the OTU at certain times and tech levels. Just as fighters might make sense at TL13 but not at TL14, titan battledress might only make sense for the Rim War but are hopeless in 1105.
