Trade Classifications

Well, I've generated a sector worth of worlds & now I'm working on a script to add trade classifications to them. I checked it against some data I have for the Spinward Marches. (Don't know where I originally got it. I just found it on my hard drive.)

Anyway, I've noticed there are some trade classifications in the Spinward data that I don't recognize: C0 C1 C3 C4 Cp Cx D1 D4. Anyone know what these mean?

Cp I think is subsector capital, and Cx may be sector capital? No clue what the others are.

AFAIK, the only official trade classifications for CT are in CT Book 6.

And CT Book 7, the book that covers Trade and Commerce... ;)

As for the other remarks in the Remarks section:

C# indicates the proportion of Chirpers in the native population (in tens of percents), from Alien Module 5: Droyne.

D# same as the above for Droyne, from Alien Module 5: Droyne.

A# same as the above for Aslan.

Cx is sector capitol.
Pr is prison world.
Ex is exile world.
Rs is research station.
Re is reserve/refuge.
An is Ancient site.

Fa is Fascinating World, from Alien Module 7: Hivers.

There are others, but I think the above covers most of it.

Hope this helps,
Flynn

For what it's worth, there's a huge chart in JTAS 26, recently reprinted as part of JTAS Volume 3. It compiles all of the (official) system profile information, including the codes for trade classification (Ag, As, etc) and remarks (An, C#, etc).

The biggest list I know of is in the Regency Sourcebook.

BTW, depending on the dating of the data you are looking at, one other item you may see is "O:xxxx". This is used on gov code "6" worlds to denote the owning or controlling world.

The "minority" note (e.g. Dx) has been used with Aslan (Ax), Chirper (Cx), Droyne (Dx), Vargr (Vx), and, amazingly enough, Kkree (Kx).

I haven't read through AM7 in a while, but I imagine a "fascinating" world would have to be fascinating to a Hiver. I imagine the only real-world qualification is a die roll or referee fiat.

Mal,

I can't remember offhand, but I'll look into it and see. I'm sure that we can make a run of it on the Spica data once it's generated, though. I do know that it involves similar criteria to the other trade codes.

OK, I'm home, so let's check it out ...

AM8 says :

"Hiver worlds which have a non-Hiver population, atmosphere type 3, 4, A, B, or C, and a population 8+ are Fascinating worlds and serve as the source of novelty trade goods for Hivers."

There you are.

Ahh! Thanks for the reponses. I feel much better about ignoring those codes now that I know what they mean.

Now I just have to figure out the descrepencies between the Spinward data & what my script comes up with for Ic, De, & Va.
