Traveller for use in other universes (namely Cherryh's) and General Questions

Hmm, So I just looked at the T20 book yesterday (my freind has it)

I think that I will probably buy it

now the standard Traveller universe is cool, but I am a Huge Cherryh fan

and it seems to me that a lot of it is shared in that universe

also I am wondering when the Player's Handbook will be out, is it a near future thing or a far future thing?

Hi Jon, welcome aboard :D

Actually you can fix it yourself. Just click the edit icon above the post and select the delete this post checkbox above it then hit the edit post button below and poof its gone (only works for topic starter and maybe only until someone replies).

More on the other (small CJC fan
) later, kinda busy at the moment.

Hello.
Yes it only works until someone adds to your message but if you get the other people to delete their messages you can still delete the original message.
OR you can only hit the add reply button once when entering any message and after it comes back and says thank you for posting you use the back button to take you back to the original screen.
Bye.

I have been checking over cherryh stuff online to remind me

and I think one of the major changes (besides setting and races) is the jump drive (And I think that I might like Cherryh's better)

even psi is in the Union-Aliance Universe (Although maybe not with humans, and deffinitely not in the time frame of when most of the books are set)

Bobpartdeux-again, welcome aboard! CJC's stuff is worth making your TU into. You have good taste in authors. Neat lady too at Cons, btw.
Like her alien take on aliens. Definitely NOT humans in funny suits (ahem ala Star trek)..

we'll chat more, later..

Have you seen the old Mayfair Games "The Company War" board game?
It has some useful data inside such as the names of the Maziani Carriers, Captains, and Riders; Union military ships including Carriers, Super Carriers, Light Carriers, Cruisers, Light Cruisers, Dartships, and Transports; the names of the Merchanter ships, their family names, and their type.
Then there's an eight page essay by CJ herself all about the Company War which gives some insights to the technology, and a starmap of the Human universe.

It's a good source of info, but most of it can be found on the web ;)

Sigg-No hven't seen the inside of a FLGS in some time.. dye have a url for that info lad? Mucho appreciated if ye can cobble it up fer me!

yours in service,

Hi there Liam.

You may have a problem tracking it down in any FLGS - it's copyright 1983 (I was young then ;) ).

I'll dig up some web links for you.

1983...I was a junior in college! But I recall the mayfair game logo from back then. ;)

so basically I am thinking that there are 3 major human groups (Alliance, Earth, and Union)

there are also (maybe) the Fleet still arround somewhere (they are mostly pirates though, have one base really far away, (I am remembering from one of the Merchanter novels))

Near Earth is the Compact

Near Union (??) are the Mri and Restul

Near Alliance (??) are the Majat

there are other groups of aliens also (both the Aliens from Hunter of Worlds, and from The Morgaine Saga are in the same universe) as well as a bunch of low tech ones (Downers, I need to reed Ghenna actually)

I would probably want to set it a bit after the end of the company wars, but not too far after

Psi is almost none existant among humans (Although there are a few special humans mentioned in her cronologically earlier books, like the ones that can move arround in Jump)

hmm, it is complicated, I should wait until I am done grading (And with my Final Project)
