I'm downsizing my dwelling arrangement, and have been touring apartments. I found one that is darned near perfect, but it's very small... "Smol" small. And the kitchen is amazing for a 9dT apartment. I started smiling as I was jotting down notes.

When the leasing agent asked, I had to reframe my thoughts... I couldn't very well refer to the areas of the apartment as the bridge (the nook for my desk), galley (kitchen), fresher (bathroom), engineering spaces (laundry), stateroom (bedroom), cargo hold (closet), and common area (living room). If I did that, I'd have to lead with, "::waves:: Hi. I'm Will, and I'm a huge nerd. ::curtsies awkwardly::"

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Small? You could almost park a grav tank in that!

I'm downsizing from a 2800sqft (60dT if you include attic space) with a pool. Empty nest and all that.
The bedroom is 11x12, plus a 4x6 closet. The living/dining room is 12x12.
Life Support consists of a 9000BTU mini-split, which is about 85% of what I'd expect for Oklahoma summers.
The kitchen is 6x12, but is well appointed and has an island. As far as I'm concerned, the living room is just an extension of that kitchen!

I wonder how many dtons my place is? And why have I never figured it out?
One of the numbers loitering in my head that day was "13.5m³/dT". As I took measurements for furniture, I was multiplying width, depth, and height and dividing ft³ by 478.75 (rounded up 480, because my floating point unit is a little bit buggy).

This morning, I feel like Randall Munroe has been auditing my notes: [link to XKCD cartoon entitled, "Uncancelled Units']

Note that only MegaTraveller actually used 13.5 kl per TD; CT gave 1.5×3×3m as a suitable approximation for the volume, but in S7, makes clear that the decktop to decktop is 3.1, not 3.0....
TNE used 2×2×3.5. GT used 500kl. I know T4 used 14kl, but don't recall (and am too lazy to check) what standard dimensions were suggested.

Yes you could...

Nothing wrong with that... unless the landlord's one of those satanic panic types.

My first thought was "US or Imperial?", then the explosion.
Imperial gallons, if you want an 8 foot ceiling. 50 US Gallons per square foot is a ceiling height of about 6'8". I'd be busting my knuckles every time I pulled on a sweater.
