TRAVELLER-NOIR

Interesting thread... it almost makes me want to read the early adventures on my copy of the CT cd... almost.

I've played Traveller since 1983, and other than 4 convention tournament games and a running of Annic Nova some 6 years ago, I've never played in a Traveller game using a published adventure... nor have I run one.

With the people I played with, every TU was the DM's own creation, and so were the adventures (even if the DM was mostly using the published OTU as the background).

And to keep things on-track, most of us did make our TUs and adventures at least somewhat "noir"... not as an artistic statement, or because we decided to fit in with "noir"... but because that "feel" of universe and game made for more interesting and satisfying gaming!

Tripwire if played 'correctly' would make excellent Noir with conspiracies and no one to trust. In my opinion the adventure doesn't even work without the last part.

On other related topic I'm running a pbp TRAVELLER FARSCAPE. Other than lack of slug throwers it's working fine. Have to see if can add a Noir touch now and then.

Thanks for this thread, provides opportunity for creativity.

George Raft appeared in a number of Film Noire movies to.

Some of the 1940s westerns are kinda like Film Noir. Randolph Scott comes to mind for those.

Turner Classic Movies has Film Noir movie showings on their tv channel from time to time.
