Traveller Snack Foods/Meals

I suppose that in K'Kree space, vegetables might be a common snack. Though K'kree meat could always be classified an "exotic horse dish!"

Genuine "Smoky Enerei's" Tree Oxen Jerky!

Try all 3 varieties: Original "Old Terran Teryaki", Vargr "Extra Chewy", and Spicy Wispwood Smoked!

Available at starport minimarts throughout the Domain of Deneb and discriminating vendors beyond.

From a recent game session:

Kaakaaraa Kola (like Vilani beer except it's soda; has a "kick" to it)

Aamarishiraa soup (Tomato with Vilani herbs); to non-Vilani it seems hot; like having Paprika or similar but with more colors in the herbs

I also made up hexagonal crackers (no I didn't give them a name...yet) and a similar hexagonal spice grinder. Since that was off the cuff I'm wondering if there is a predominant Vilani shape. Really I was just going for something a little different.

the names are derived from the excellent Your Name in Vilani page.

First one I used coca cola, second tomato soup. Hey if Vulcan's use Campbell's from a can I figure Vilani can as well.

I've heard from long haul Traders that Terran tinned dog food is snapped up like foie gras and truffles in Vargr space. They especially like the 'rabbit meaty chunks in succulent jelly' variety.

We somehow moved off topic to drinks, but everyone has neglected to mention Scout Brew

Scout Brew Description

I was always under the impression that there was some kerosene involved, but the above link doesn't mention it.

As for food, once my players resupplied from a remote alien base (droyne I think). The only real conception these particular aliens had of human civilization was from old terran TV. The player ship ended up with quite a bit of Lucky Charms (preserved with TL15 tech, of course). The enginner kept stealing the yellow stars and hiding them in his quarters.

Groat jerky was another popular one in our group, since we tended to stick to the spinward marches.

? Drinks are listed on the first page of this thread and are considered part of a meal by some or at the least a fine complement to such. ;)

Scout Brew...yum! Have to use groat jerky.

I'm guessing pop tarts are still around in the Far Future.

I think I could start brewin' that Scout Brew... Mainly 'cause people on it seem to be insane!

Also, Pop Tarts (the food, not the young Spears-esqe types) will be a popular survival ration in many Scout kits.

Don't forget Extee-Three for all the fuzzies (gashta of Zarathrustra, for those who insist upon their proper name) out there, they need their titanium fix or we'll run out of fuzzies, and perhaps land prawns on the barbee as well.

Hmmm. Tobibak candy-fish. Made from real fish! Goes well in a submarine sandwich, eaten underwater.
