TV Tropes for your campaigns

Thought everyone might like to take a look at this. It's a page about different story concepts and acting styles (usually describing bad story concepts and crappy acting) in movies and TV. Might come in handy when designing characters and stories for your campaigns. Check out the Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan breakdown if you get a chance. My favorite is "Ham to Ham Combat".

And of course, they have Unobtainium.

I use TV tropes all the time. And when I am not consciously doing so, I can see them in retrospect.

Several I use include:

The Migration(the recurring theme)
Fighting For A Homeland(goes with above)
Intrepid Merchant(the heroes profession; they like to supply the preliminary base for the Astron Project by contract, on the way in, and trade their way home)
Nakama
Nested Stories(substitute for holodeck: I can potentially go anywhere)
Friending Network(useful for above)
the list goes on...

It's interesting how much Five Man Band applies to so many shows.

The A-Team
Big Bang Theory
Power Rangers
Firefly

It's funny, after reading these, I've started to analyze shows I watch with some of these tropes.

Wow!

I feel like I am reading a foreign language.

Very impressive, thanks SO much Scout! Reading this Wiki might actually drag me away from Facebook for a while...
