Un-related but related to Traveller

Greetings everyone, as you may or may not know, my father was Donald McKinney and it has been two months to the day since he passed, in my timezone at least. At this time for me, he was being rushed to the ER with complications unknown at the time.

Winter War was and is a convention that was the pride of my father (one of the lesser ones obviously). He was Chairman of it for 22 years, and this year would have been 23. Winter War was successful, and hence I wanted to invite the CotI forum, as well as, the Traveller community to partake in something we are doing for dad. If possible, I will include a link to my personal blog where I will upload the PDF of this year's program. We included a small memoriam to dad in that. We want to make Winter War 44's program a collage of stories about my father in gaming, doing gaming things, and how he progressed the effort of gaming for his various interests.

If it is, please let me know and I can move this to the appropriate forum. I just thought that since this was a social invitation, it was appropriate.

I think Don treated Winter War as seriously as he treated Traveller. In other words, if I were to rank it, I wouldn't necessarily rank Traveller over it.

In what city is Winter War held? It looks like some place in Illinois.

Winter War is hosted in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. It is located at the Hawthorne near Neil Street, not that far from the Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium. For those who watch College Sports, this is the home of the Fighting Illini.

And I would agree that Traveller was as equal to love as Winter War was to my father. It just had a longer hold on his heart than Winter War did.
