Unreal Saturn fly by

Wow.

The word, awesome is used far too liberally these days, but that is genuinely, jaw-droppingly awe inspiring.

(also you can see the DeathStar at 1:32 :D )

It's not so much the pretty pictures that impress me. It's the research data they have gathered over these many years - and which they still continue to gather.

We know so much more, now, about Saturn and its moons than our forebears could have dared to imagine. And we have done this in living memory.

That knowledge impresses me far more than pretty pictures.

The pretty pictures, tho', are what get support for the funding to do the science.

Pretty Pictures of a place most people never got to is part of why Hawaii Five-O ran 12 seasons. (It certainly wasn't for the Actors screen acting, neé scenery chewing, skills.)

A little OT, but this made me remember seeing carl sagan's "Cosmos" when I was a kid and made me think how badly we need something like that today. "Cosmos, the nect generation", hoisted by Neil tyson degrasse and with stephen hawking, Michi koku and some other modern scientists and astronomers...

We already have that.

They're called "Wonders of the Solar System" and "Wonders of the Universe" (the new series, currently showing on BBC TV), and it's presented by Professor Brian Cox (who is very popular in the UK, and a very good science educator).

They are IMO the best science shows since Cosmos (and the Professor was actually inspired by that series). Watch them, you will not be disappointed.

Please, not Dr. Neil "Pluto is a KBO" Tyson. I dislike his constant sly political commentary in Nova Science Now. Hosting a major show, he'd be even worse. Guesting, sure. But keep him away from scripts and lead front man.

Dr. Michio Kaku, yeah. His own series wasn't scoped well enough for it, but he has both the charm and the knowledge.

Dr. Jill Tarter would also be excellent.

I too disliked the demotion of pluto, but won't get into that here as of the politics involved.

Dr. Kaku would be a great choice.

Maybe some of the people who were science consultants for star trek.
