Update from Hunter, Please :)

Hello,

I understand from a couple quick skims in the last month or so that Hunter's hard-drive died. Sorry to hear that Hunter, I know it's a real pain. Just wondering if any work was lost. Also hoping for an update on progress toward completion of the final, ready-for-print version of 2320 AD. I'm not trying to be a pest, just eager to send money for my own copy. In any case, I hope things are back on track for an imminent release :)

Thank You,

Sylvermane

despite being asked to draw 20+ logos for foundations/companies etc and having submitted them to ted over a year ago I have yet to even here from Hunter other than an e-mail to someone else stating that they were being used.

I was on a list of artists to be paid i recall.

Normally i wouldnt do this. Air dirty laundry in public but im fed up of it now. If he wont return pms and e-mails i dont really have an option.

I did the work in good faith, have yet to see a penny or even how/when its being used.

i'm giving up the ghost on this one... the way things are going we'll all be in retirement homes by the time its released.

If anyone does have access to hunter please ask him to contact me via pm here or my e-mail (which he has) to discuss my withdrawal from the project.

Every single other client ive had has kept me fully informed and paid me promptly. (references can be supplied)

A serious lack of professionalism.

Completely understandable. I'm sorry that it has ended up this way. This was not how I thought things would go when I first invited you.

The same goes for Laurent, Ted, Jonathon, and anyone else. For what it is worth, you have my apologies. Not that I am responsible for the issues, just to be clear.

I've not heard from Hunter for nearly 2 months. The past 6 months have been a litany of not getting the royalty statements I'm supposed to, chasing Hunter, getting some of what I'm owed and a promise of timely communications, followed by a lapse back into silence.

This month I've not even managed to get a response by chasing him; not direct, not via Marc and not via this board. This is very serious - I make my sole living from writing these days and not getting paid has a way of being quite inconvenient come mortgage payment day.

I'm thoroughly sick of this now.

Putting out the T20 players book was something of an experiment on my part to see if it was worth renewing my relationship with QLI. Clearly it is not, since I don't really like working for free.

Safe to say there will be no more MJD traveller products via QLI unless something very impressive happens, and soon.

What QLI needs in order to turn its fortunes around is to put out product, but if the content providers are sick of the whole business, what happens then? Nothing much, I guess.

For me, it wouldn't take much more than the occasional email and update to keep me happy - I can't really afford to wait for payment on royalties but I've already agreed to one deferment so I guess I'm still willing to cut Hunter some slack. But silence is disturbing and there's been a lot of it lately.

Actually, let me rephrase that. I haven't actually received an email from Hunter since March 24th. So three months.
This lack of communication is, unfortunately, all too common with Hunter, and something that has been an issue for the past 4-6 years.

I'll just say that the loss of such contributors is sad and will be missed. Understandable of course but still disappointing. I'm sure many wish otherwise but that won't make it so. Good fortune shine on your other works gentlemen and I hope Hunter sets things right for your current issues soon.

As far as I'm concerned the door is still open. There are some very serious issues that need to be resolved of course, mainly regarding back royalties and timely communication but if those were sorted out then I'd consider working with Hunter/QLI in the future.

However, I went into the T20 players book deal as a sort of experiment to see if it was worth working for QLI and right now there's an inordinate amount of fail emanating from that one. I can't afford to work for free, which means that I can't afford to work for QLI.

It would not take much to fix this - some communication would go a long way - but given that the same tired events have repeated themselves every month, except this month when I've not had any response at all, well, I can't afford to waste any more time on this.

I have a living to make. Right now Avenger, Amber Books, Mongoose, the university and a project that involves me teaching kickboxing to homeless people (yes, you really did read that right) are keeping me quite busy.

I'll keep prodding about royalties of course, but frankly I'm not very hopeful about the situation. I'd like to be but I've been given precious little reason to believe things will work out.

Thanks for your comments Colin. Let me the first of many to say that everyone understands that youre a contributor too.

Gentlemen, one and all.

I too would have been happy with a little communication... but i havent EVER had anything from Hunter. Quite shocking really and despite any personal issues inexcusable. My g/f went into a coma and i dropped off the work rate/schedule for Cthulhu Adventus but STILL e-mailed people.

Im beyond making excuses for a company which seems to be on the skids.

Dont mean you any ill will hunter. Just need to put QLI behind me.

All the best guys!

Hello guys,

I'm sorry to see the usual lack of progress of the project. By luck, I'am not living from modelling...

My work was an association with Collin to help him to obtain the best product. Regrettably, he is not any more the boss of this work. If the final product doesn't come in production fastly, I shall envisage to enrich a famous 2300 website and give the pictures to players.

Bye,
Laurent

I dropped out of the project a while back after creating and delivering the new layout, design elements, artwork and coordinating art with some of the other artists. The lack of communication and forward momentum from QLI just made the whole process tedious and it became clear that the chance of it ever seeing the light of day were dwindling.

For me, it was a labor of love to be able to work on one of my favorite game settings from my teen years and I'm still glad that I was able to work with some very talented folks helping craft and visualize the universe of 2320AD.

I'd like to thank all of the other contributors that gave their time and creative efforts towards realizing the 2320AD universe. Since it appears that much of work that went into the project was not paid for, maybe there is a chance for someone else to pick up the torch and carry it forward. Hopefully the product can find a home with a publisher who can bring it to market in the manner that it deserves.

Well it would seem that the only way forward for the project would be with someone else other than QLI (deja vu anyone !), its a project thats as good as done the preveiw PDF (or what ever Hunter called it) has been around for ages now.

So heres looking forward to things, I hope.

Rog.
