Vehicle Volume

Libris

SOC-12
Does anyone know how the vehicle volumes (in displacement tons) are calculated for transporting as a ship's vehicle or cargo?

According to p 223, 1 vl = 10 liters, or 0.01 cubic meters. By that figure, one dton = 1400 vls.

Now, some folks have suggested that 1 vl = 5 liters is a more realistic figure for the physical volume of the vehicle, and I'm generally inclined to agree. But I'd still use the book value above for carrying vehicles in a starship, to account for waste volume around the vehicle, access space, and so forth.
